Welcome surprise for Woorayl Lodge

LEONGATHA’S Woorayl Lodge aged care residence general manager, Barry Westhorpe, and a group of board members were delighted to accept a $5000 donation on the organisation’s behalf last month.

The generous contribution was made by the Count Charitable Foundation, with the business partners of Leongatha’s Jim Pickersgill & Associates choosing Woorayl Lodge as the recipient.

“Count was our dealer group for financial planning,” said Jim Pickersgill & Associates operations partner, Lisa O’Brien, explaining the organisations have now parted.

“But as a final farewell, the (Count) Charitable Foundation gave us a final donation,” Lisa said.

The weather played its part allowing a relaxed gathering in glorious sunshine in front of the lodge for the presentation of the giant cheque.

Lisa explained the decision to direct the funds to Woorayl Lodge, making it clear it was one the partners had no difficulty agreeing on.

“We chose it because it provides an invaluable service to our community, aged care, and people can visit relatives or spouses locally,” Lisa said.

Barry expressed his appreciation of the generous contribution to Woorayl Lodge.

“It was a lovely surprise from a prominent community member,” he said of Jim Pickersgill’s involvement in directing the funds to the lodge.

Barry said there will be discussions as to how best to use the donation, with the possibility of purchasing equipment or directing the money towards other worthy initiatives.
