C Grade, Division 1
CONTINUING the father-son tradition at Digger Park, OMK’s Steven Loader and his young son Bradley took the field against Nerrena, chalking up a handy win.
Bradley Loader played his first C1 match alongside his father against Phillip Island, with younger brother Mitchell playing in the juniors.
“I hadn’t played for years,” said proud father Steven.
“But 11-year-old Mitchell was keen to step up after taking six wickets in junior cricket.”
Opening the batting for Nerrena, Brian Gannon and Jack Donohue were dismissed cheaply. Gannon was caught by Russell White off the bowling of Jordan Myors for nine, and Donohue was caught by
Paul Harper off the bowling of Matthew Loader for just three.
Darren Curtis steadied for Nerrena, eventually notching up an impressive innings of 56 despite seeing off Clancee Salmon and Christos Marinou, both dispatched scoreless.
Russ White, Jordan Myors and Matthew Loader shared the bowling honours for OMK.
Chasing Nerrena’s tally of 125, Mathew Walker and Russell White opened for OMK, notching up an impressive century between them before White was caught by Ben Croatto off the bowling of Nick
Tucker for 37 and Matt Walker was caught and bowled for 57.
Notching up 130 runs off 32.5 overs, OMK sealed victory with the loss of only five wickets.
