Chelsea debuts in National League for the Meteors
Chelsea Moscript bowled 1/34 off 5.2 for ACT in her debut match against Tasmania.

FORMER Leongatha cricketer Chelsea Moscript made her debut with the ACT Meteors recently.

The Meteors are the women’s representative cricket team for the ACT.

Chelsea said it was a really special experience and something she had always dreamed about.

“I moved to ACT last year through an opportunity to work at Cricket ACT in the community cricket space,” she said.

“Since working here, they offered me the opportunity to train alongside the squad when I could balance it with work.”

In her first game, ACT 147 lost to Tasmania 4/150.

“It was a pretty tough day from a team perspective. There were not enough runs on the board with the bat, but we showed great fight in the field and with the ball,” Chelsea said.

Chelsea’s figures were 1/34 off 5.2.

She will continue to train with the squad as much as she can, to continue to learn and become the best player she can be.

“I am still balancing full-time work and training two to three times a week,” she said.

“Both my manager and the coaches have been really supportive in letting me do what I do, which I am very grateful for.”

From being forced into backyard cricket with her brothers, Chelsea made her debut with Koonwarra/Leongatha RSL at 10 years old.

From there, cricket has taken her all over the world, including Japan, Samoa, Hong Kong and Fiji.

She is now enjoying her time in her role with Cricket ACT and taking the cricket opportunities as they come.

“I want to continue learning and be the best I can be on and off the field. Wherever that takes me, I will be very happy,” she said.

Chelsea thanked those who have supported her along the way.

“It was particularly special to have my mum and two grannies come up to Canberra for a FIFO visit,” she said.

“Thanks to my family at home for letting mum escape the farm for the day as well.

“I’m grateful to Rob Wood, who coached me as a youngster and who I still catch up with whenever I’m around. I’m also thankful for Koonwarra/Leongatha RSL, Cricket Without Borders and Dandenong for their support along my cricketing journey.”
