THE Korumburra Show certainly brought in a crowd on Saturday, February 11 with entertainment for all ages encompassing the Showgrounds.
Vendors lined the lanes, with ice cream, fairy floss and hot cuisines and Taylors Amusements were set up with rides and their sky-high jump bungies that were a hit for the older kids, all while the pony rides from Little Ryders and stilt walker Jazmin Dreams remained a highlight, impressing the entire crowd with her unique talent.
Peter Hearn of Poplargrove Stud set up among the market stalls enticing the crowd with Angelique and Boof, showcasing the boutique breeding of miniature donkeys.
President, and Chief Steward – Exhibit Pavilion Korumburra A & P Society, Rhonda Brooks said her daughter Shelby is the fifth generation to take part in the annual show.
Classic vehicles were on display with Jessie and Nico taking away the People’s Choice award for their 1926 Bayliss Thomas and showcasing their 1928 Hupmobile.
In the sheds, ewes were on show, judged for a variety of categories with Blackpond Hampshire Downs awarded in two categories throughout the afternoon, whilst judges of the poultry section Leigh and Caitlin Mannix awarded Campell Allman as champion in the bird junior section and champion in the bird show for with his prize winner ‘Twirl’ and Lyn Mackay took out reserve champion in the bird show for her Silver Duckwing Old English Game.
The annual event was a success with patrons travelling from inner Melbourne and surrounding farms to attend the show, either taking part in competition or viewing the level of community involvement that goes into a regional town event.
Exhibit Pavilion 2023 special prize awards
THE Korumburra and District Agricultural and Pastoral Society presented their exhibit at the 127th annal show at the Korumburra Showgrounds on Saturday, February 11 with President, and Chief Steward of the Exhibit Pavilion, Rhonda Brooks presenting the special prizes.
The most successful exhibitor in section T of the Farm and garden produce category was presented to winner Max Grigg for his collection of vegetables, followed by runner up winner A and L Sage.
“The winners of the VAS competitions will compete at a group level, in the next few months and if they win that, they go on to the Royal Melbourne Show to compete,” said Rhonda.
