NERRENA and OMK are through to the grand final, set to be played out this weekend.
OMK is through to the big dance after defeating Wonthaggi Club in the second semi-final.
Club had finished the home and away season second on the ladder with OMK in third.
The Diggers caused the upset at Dudley Campus, Bass Coast College in Wonthaggi.
Club had won the toss and chose to bat first.
A slew of ducks troubled Club early, as they lost Chris Fraser, Jed Caddy, Justin Licis and Lucas McRae.
Opening batsman William Speed top-scored for Club with a much-needed 43-run haul.
Eighteen runs were added by Trae Dudas-Jacobs halfway through the innings, and Alan Babu finished it off with 19 runs.
OMK bowlers Owen Fitzpatrick and Jordan Myors shared the glory, taking three wickets each.
Two wickets were taken by Justin Greenwood.
Club was bowled out and left to defend 10/142.
Robert Quaife and Russ White opened for OMK.
White made 15 runs before he was dismissed LBW by Licis and Quaife added 22 runs before he was bowled by Luke Borne.
The partnership of Fitzpatrick and Mitchell Nicholas sealed the deal for OMK.
They made 86 and 24 not out respectively.
OMK won with a score of 2/151.
Nerrena chases down Burra in semi clash
OVER at Leongatha’s East Campus, Nerrena took on Korumburra in the first semi-final.
Korumburra chose to bat first after winning the toss.
Despite losing opening batsman Jacob Wrigley for a duck, Korumburra played a strong, consistent innings early.
Shayne Harland, Iain Riddell and Darren Scott made 29, 21 and 24 runs respectively, while Patrick Beadel top scored with 33 runs.
For Nerrena, the best bowler was Eamon Berryman, who took 4/26.
Singles were claimed by Shem Murphy, Cameron Baudinette and Gerard Murphy.
Nerrena was chasing Korumburra’s score of 8/133.
Captain Brian Gannon opened for Nerrena and made 25 runs.
Fourth bat Gerard Murphy made the top score of 47 runs, and another 21 runs were made by Wayne Cocksedge.
Korumburra tried to hold Nerrena back, with bowlers Scott and Thomas Sorrell taking two wickets each.
Singles were claimed by Bryce Riddell, Harland and Beadel.
In the 35th over, Nerrena passed Korumburra’s score and won with 7/134.
C Grade, Division 2





Grand final contenders decided in C2
INVERLOCH and MDU are the C2 grand finalists for the 2024/25 season.
The first semi-final was played at the Inverloch Recreation Reserve between Inverloch and Glen Alvie.
The Stingrays were the favourites to win this match after finishing the season as the minor premiers.
Glen Alvie won the toss and chose to bowl.
Inverloch’s openers David Harris and Warren Stewart had the Stingrays off to a great start, making 33 and 49 runs respectively.
Harris was caught by Ian Thorn off the bowling of Tai Bolding, which sent in Lucas McMillan.
McMillan was the game decider, making 79 not out.
Stewart’s wicket was claimed by Lucas Ton and Wayne Chapman finished off the innings with McMillan, making six not out.
Inverloch had Glen Alvie chasing 2/185.
David Hynes opened well for Glen Alvie with 62 runs.
However, Inverloch bowlers Wayne Chapman and Aedan Parker didn’t allow the Glen Alvie batsmen much airtime.
Bowler Holly Williams polished off the bottom of the batting order, stopping Glen Alvie’s run early.
For Glen Alvie, Charlie Andersen finished the innings 15 not out.
Tailenders Kent Andersen and Jarvis Hynes contributed 11 and 10 runs respectively before they fell victim to Williams.
Parker was the top bowler of the day, taking 4/20.
Glen Alvie was bowled out with a score of 10/136.
MDU sinks Sharks to seal semi victory
THE second semi-final was played between Phillip Island and MDU at the Cowes Recreation Reserve.
Phillip Island won the toss and chose to bat.
John Manning and Peter Francis opened for the Sharks.
Manning made 37 runs before his wicket was taken by Craig Hoober and Francis made 25 runs before he was dismissed by Kurt Sinclair.
Hoober and Sinclair swiftly worked their way through the top order, but sixth bat Jon Parry kept Phillip Island in the competition.
Parry added the top score of 57 runs before he was run out by Sinclair and Dale Thomas.
Phillip Island set the target at 7/143.
Clayton Fisher opened for MDU and made 36 runs.
Third and fourth bats Hoober and Simon McRae secured the match for MDU.
Hoober made 44 runs before he was caught by Parry off the bowling Jai Kleverkamp, while McRae made 54 not out.
Wicket-taking was shared between Kleverkamp, Sonny McMillan, Sachin Sirirathnage and captain Michael Cleary.
MDU won the day with a score of 4/144.
