I found the cartoon in last week’s (March 21) publication extremely disappointing.
The Sentinel Times is a major public information source in the local community.
It has a responsibility to provide as objective an analysis and perspective on key social issues as is possible.
And there are very few, if any more important issues that that of climate change and the impact it is already having on millions of people and potentially all people.
While we still have people, for various reasons, deliberately misinforming the public about this issue, the scientific findings on this issue are as conclusive as they can be in any scientific undertaking.
The cartoon would have been more accurate if the caption read “They told us that burning fossil fuels would have no impact on our lives”.
I find it difficult to understand just who the Sentinel Times are appealing to in promoting the views represented by this cartoon and just whose interests they are focussed on representing in the local community.
