I read with interest G. Cole’s contribution (“your say”) in last week’s edition.

I equate climate change to a visit to the dentist, something no one looks forward to.

Our changing climate is akin to a tooth ache, it’s there, it hurts and we know it won’t go away.

We can take pain relief but that is only a temporary measure, a time will come when the dentist is the only solution.

We now acknowledge climate change is real and we know the consequences it brings, consider the recent fires and now floods, forecast to become more frequent and more sever in the years ahead.

Vested interests would have us believe there is no urgency in addressing this issue, however, unlike a tooth ache there is no temporary relief, now is the time for strong action.

Imagine the price of electricity today if governments had the foresight and were bold enough to implement renewable policies 10 years ago.

It’s easy to find excuses not to act on climate change, but again like the tooth ache it won’t go away. The dentist awaits.
