B Grade, Division 1

A 103-run haul from Loc Roberts saw Nerrena finish the home and away season on top of the B1 ladder.

Playing at Thompson Reserve in Inverloch, Nerrena was chasing Inverloch’s score of 10/209.

Kade Berryman and Roberts were sent in to open the Red Caps’ innings.

Berryman made 12 runs before he was dismissed LBW by Dean Cashin.

James Kelly entered and put 57 runs on the board.

Kelly was caught by Jay Mottram Carter off the bowling of Walter Taberner, and fourth bat and vice-captain Damien Symmons contributed 14 runs before he was dismissed by Brett Debono.

Joel Renden saw out the innings with Roberts.

Renden made 14 runs, and they were both not out when the game was won.

Nerrena’s winning tally was 3/210.

Club crushes MDU, storms into finals

WONTHAGGI Club secured a massive victory to propel it into the finals.

Club was defending a very comfortable 7/369 at the Dumbalk Recreation Reserve against MDU.

Dale Thomas and Troy Sinclair were sent into bat first for MDU.

Sinclair was dismissed LBW by Club captain Sean Roche for 11 runs, which sent in Dylan Zuidema.

Zuidema top scored with 52 runs, while Thomas contributed 29 runs.

Tailenders Simon McRae and captain Tyrone Zukovskis added 30 and 24 runs respectively, with McRae not out at the end of the innings, but it wasn’t going to be enough to catch Club.

Shaun Tessari had Club’s best bowling figures, taking 4/38.

Three wickets were taken by Roche and two were claimed by Mohamed Ashik Mohamed Nizar.

MDU was bowled out 10/177 after 46 overs.

OMK ends season in style

OMK celebrated the end of the season with a first-innings win over Korumburra.

The onslaught from the OMK bowlers left Korumburra stunned and bowled out 10/96 the previous week.

OMK then stepped in and made 4/150.

Coming into Saturday’s match, OMK opted to declare and sent Korumburra into bat again for a crack at an outright win.

Trevor Allen and Caleb Turton opened Korumburra’s second innings.

They contributed the best scores of the day with Allen making 57 and Turton 18.

Fifteen runs were added by third bat Jakeb Jorgensen.

OMK bowler Jake Cochrane took the most wickets with 2/34.

Singles were claimed by Nick Wylie and captain Adam Busana. Korumburra played out its 65 overs, resulting in a score of 5/144.

Phillip Island had the bye. 

B1 now looks to the semi-finals where Nerrena will take on Inverloch and Wonthaggi Club will come up against Phillip Island.

B Grade, Division 2

Foster overthrow Town

IN AN upset, Foster toppled Leongatha Town in the 11th hour from the top of the ladder to be crowned the 2024/25 B2 minor premiers.

Foster and Town faced off at the Foster Cricket Ground, and Town was chasing Foster’s 10/242.

Opening batsman Trent McRae was quickly dismissed for one run.

He was caught by Brett Gay off the bowling of Chris Ford.

The partnership of Mark Hardy and Colin Bruce had Town in better position, as they made 36 and 53 runs respectively.

Pandukabhaya Jayasinghe made 26 runs, but the Foster bowlers ensured the run rate was low for the second half of the batting order.

Ford took 5/33 and Jack Gay took 3/32.

Single wickets were taken by Neil Henry and Shaun Chaseling.

Town conceded defeat – and the top of the ladder – with a score of 10/153.

Nyora’s nail-biting win

NYORA came out on top after a battle with Glen Alvie at the Nyora Recreation Reserve.

Glen Alvie went into Saturday’s game looking to defend 10/204.

Nyora opening batsman Aaron Thompson had the ball rolling with 28 runs,

However, a slew of wickets taken by Glen Alvie bowler Ned Brown had Nyora in trouble.

A second wind saw Jake Henry and Benn Hayes make 27 and 24 runs respectively, and tailenders Colin Knox and Mitch Rowe finish off with 68 and 36 not out.

Brown claimed 3/39 and Glen Alvie captain Darcy Hale took 2/54.

Nyora won the game with a score of 7/208.

Imperials dominate

THE Imperials ended the home and away season on a high note with a comfortable win over Koonwarra L/RSL.

Koonwarra L/RSL had been bowled out 10/99 and the Imperials resumed their innings from 4/79.

Gary Sauvarin and James Forrester were at the crease.

While Forrester was dismissed for eight runs by Glenn Boxall, Sauvarin went on to make 57 runs before he was bowled out by Matthew Boswell.

Cooper Rickard and Martin Reidy added 13 and 18 runs respectively towards the end of the innings, with Reidy finishing up not out.

Koonwarra L/RSL’s Louis Read took the most wickets with 3/23.

Boxall and Boswell took two wickets each.

The Imperials won with a final score of 10/192.

Kilcunda-Bass had the bye.

The B2 semi-final will play out this weekend.

Foster will challenge Koonwarra L/RSL and Leongatha Town will battle it out with the Imperials.
