IT WASN’T just about the fundraising. The ‘Balls and Bubbles’ ladies day at the Wonthaggi Power Football Netball Club last Saturday was mainly an appreciation event for the women of the Power football club.
As a social occasion, it was a roaring success but it also managed to raise valuable funds towards the $25,000 commitment the club has made to the overall project cost, for the new netball pavilion, of $1,536,700, mostly funded by Bass Coast Shire Council but with a significant contribution from the club as well.
“We organised the day to celebrate the contribution made by the women of the football netball club and I think we’ve been able to do that really well today,” said one of the organisers Carla Poletti.
“But we’ve also been able to generate some money for the netball rooms as well, and it’s a big thank you to those who attended for that.”
The event was favoured by some great sponsorship from the businesses of Wonthaggi, Cape Paterson, Inverloch and Phillip Island with major sponsorship by ‘Mad As A Platter’ and ‘Harvey Norman’.
