UNFORTUNATELY, due to the lousy weather, neither of the Goannas teams due to play on Sunday had a game.
This means the Over 50 team are yet to play this season, and the Over 60 team have just played the one game.
The next game for the Over 50s will be a home game against the Geelong Over 50 team, on Sunday, November 9.
Both the Over 60 team and the Over 70 team travelled to Geelong over the long weekend for a ‘double-header’ at the Leopold Cricket Club grounds.
On Tuesday, October 28, the Over 70 team welcomed the West Gippsland Wombats to the Village Green ground in Toongabbie.
The turf ground was still rather wet from the weekend’s rain.
Winning the toss, the Goannas batted first with Donald Cameron and Neil Meredith opening the innings.
Both retired, for 16 and 29 respectively from their 30 balls.
Ian Gibson, 19, Ray Smith, 30, and Phill Higgins, 10, also retired after facing 30 balls.

The Goannas had reached 87 at the 20-over drinks break.
Murray Moore, 26 from 20, with a mighty six, also retired.
Ron Milnes six, Dick Noble one, and Andy Slevin five, were all out as the score mounted to 3/156 after34 overs.
Bob Duljas 12x and Gordon Cowling 20x saw the Goannas reach 40 overs for the total of 187 runs.
Peter Anton had done a magnificent job for the teams, getting the ground ready for play and setting up the afternoon tea back at the main clubhouse.
After tea, the Wombats started their innings slowly as Ian Southall, five overs eight runs, and Cowling, five overs 1/6, held the score to 1/14 after 10 overs.
Barrie Nunn and Milnes bowled the next 10 overs for 15 and 14 runs each as the Wombats reached 1/45 at drinks.
Meredith, five overs 1/5, Noble three overs for 10, Slevin, five overs 1/9, Duljas, Higgins and Smith, two overs, 1/9, completed the innings as the Wombats reached 4/114 after their 40 overs.
Smith took a good catch at slip early, Gibson had a good stumping, and Cameron took a good catch at backward square leg, but the ground fielding of Southall, Moore and Duljas was spectacular.
