C GRADE

INVERLOCH came off their first win of the season and were back at home when MDU came to town on Saturday, when the two teams were able to play out the most overs in any match for the day with 57.

The Demons won the toss and chose to bat first and found a strong early contribution from Wayne Cocksedge (23) before a decent Invy’ fightback removed much of their top and middle order.

The Dees’ tail wagged though and saw them reach 194 before being dismissed, behind strong performances from Glen Cocksedge (48) at number eight and Stephen Riley (28) at number 10.

Matt Marston (3/34 from 15) was again superb for the Stingrays, after bowling a mega spell in their win a week prior.

Strong clash  brewing in Koony’

KILCUNDA-BASS made their way down to the Koonwarra Recreation Reserve on Saturday and got a good 19 overs of play in on the day.

The Sharks won the toss and chose to bat first and Paul Cornelis (25 off 21) again got off to a good start but fell.

This left Mathew Whitby (23* off 41) to pick up where he left off and he did so, reaching the conclusion of play with his wicket intact, seeing multiple teammates depart, he finished alongside Joe Reilly (1* off 18).

Spencer Chadwick (2/26 from 6) was the pick of the bowlers for the Cougars.
