ELEVEN Victorian lifesavers, including Angela Malan and Robert O’Neill, both of Inverloch SLSC, have received the National Medal as an acknowledgement of their outstanding service to lifesaving.

The National Medal is awarded to those who “risk their lives to protect or assist the community in enforcement of law or in times of emergency or natural disaster”.

Recipients must have served a minimum of 30 patrol hours per year over 15 years to be eligible for the medal.

LSV CEO Cath Greaves commended recipients for their skill, dedication and selflessness.

“Our volunteer lifesavers make an incredible contribution to our movement and our community. I’m delighted to see that acknowledged through the National Medal,” Ms. Greaves said.
