A Grade, Division 2

JACK Butcher’s century saw Inverloch secure A2’s minor premiership for the 2024/25 season.

Inverloch was chasing MDU’s 10/84 and sailed to victory at Meeniyan Recreation Reserve.

MDU knew it was going to be a tough ask after it struggled through its first innings.

The home side had suffered at the hands of Lewis Rankin, who had claimed five wickets and contributed heavily to MDU’s low run rate.

Butcher was at the crease with Rhys Newman on Saturday, who made 73 runs before he was caught by Zak Bright off the bowling of Tharidu Nuwan.

Dylan Clark stepped up next and made 57 not out.

Nyora smashes it outta the park

NYORA is going into the finals series with a spring in its step after a convincing win over Glen Alvie.

Glen Alvie was challenged with chasing 7/263 and was unable to build the momentum required to catch its opponent.

Glen Alvie was off to a slow start when it lost Archie Donohue for a duck.

Opening batsman Archie Moore was joined by Matthew Donohue at the crease, but Moore was caught by Jy Hull for 10 runs off the bowling of Reece Cordeux.

Glen Alvie then lost Matthew Dakin, captain Ben McRae and Harvey Smith for ducks at the hands of Cordeux and Aaron Kaddatz.

Matthew Donohue went on to make 23 runs, but this was Glen Alvie’s top score.

Tailender Zack Scholz tried to salvage the score and added another 21 runs.

The game was called in the 42nd over with Glen Alvie bowled out 10/94.

Sharks snap victory

KILCUNDA-Bass triumphed over Foster at the Bass Recreation Reserve.

Going into Saturday having already made 1/75, Robert Wallace and Jaydan Tregear resumed the innings.

Wallace made 58 runs and Tregear made 24.

The top score was made by captain Matthew Grayson, who made 59 not out.

Todd Smith was also not out at stumps and made 26 runs.

Foster’s best bowlers were Josh Toner with 2/23 and a private player with 2/30.

The only other wicket was taken by Andrew Pattie.

Kilcunda-Bass’ winning score was 5/190.

A2 now turns its attention to the semi-finals.

The first semi-final will be battled out between Inverloch and MDU, and the second semi-final will be played out between Nyora and Kilcunda-Bass.
