Korumburra Show gets publicity boost from Liberal spill
Expecting a statement from Goldstein MP Tim Wilson about the election of Angus Taylor as the new Liberal leader, the national media got a promo about this weekend's Korumburra Show.

SOMETHING good has already come out of the move by the Liberal Party to replace its national leader on Friday, and it’s not what you think.

Initially it was Monash MP Mary Aldred who put this weekend’s Korumburra Show on the national stage on her way into Parliament House on Friday morning.

Not stopping as she strode past the waiting media pack, and entered by the parliament building by the House of Representative doors, she nonetheless had time to respond to a parting question from the media.

“Are you disappointed about what’s happening today?” asked the media, which had characterised Ms Aldred as a Sussan Ley supporter.

“I’m just looking forward to getting home and going to the Korumburra Show,” she said.

The hottest ticket this weekend, according to Tim Wilson MP is the Korumburra Show.

The prominence given to the Korumburra Show, at an important moment for the party, had clearly struck a chord with quirky Goldstein MP Tim Wilson who injected it into the narrative while the media was waiting outside the Liberal Party room following the vote.

Instead of taking the opportunity to comment on the election of his new leader, Angus Taylor, by a margin of 34-17 against Sussan Ley, he told the media that “we’ve got to shut up” about all this “because we’ve all got to get to the Korumburra Show which is apparently the hottest ticket in Monash”.

The media dismissed Mr Wilson’s comments as an attempt at humour in a serious moment but it got quite a burst on the live coverage.
