THE LDNA Winter Competition Grand Final was held on Saturday, August 31.

Wow what a way to finish the season with a wet and very windy day!

The GS and GA players definitely had a hard job on their hands trying to shoot in that wind! What a wonderful season we have had this year as we hosted 11 clubs.

Giving us 20 Net Set Go players, five All Abilities, 496 Junior and 104 Seniors. Resulting in 625 registered players.

This is the largest participation rate we have had in some time and 70 more players than last year. Netball is definitely on the up!

We saw 57 umpires and seven trainee umpires take our courts this year, with many of the umpires doing multiple games and 11&under bottom age competition with one umpire per court.

Thank you to all the umpires, we don’t have a game without you all!

We would like to thank all the club volunteer committee members, players, coaches, umpires, parents/guardians, mentors and the volunteer LDNA Executive Committee. Your unwavering support for our great sport and LDNA is what makes us such an inclusive, welcoming and big netball family. We appreciate you all.

A massive thank you to our very generous sponsors: Thornton’s Bakery, BJ Earthmoving,

Elise Florist, Christie Nelson Real Estate, The Leongatha RSL, Bendigo Bank Leongatha, J. Pickersgill & Associates, K & P Kuhne, C & J Bruce, N Williams, S & G Wright, Evans Petroleum, Patterson Family and Coffee Hotspot.

LDNA also presented Pat Kuhne with the renaming of Court 4 to the Pat Kuhne Court.

Pat has been a massive asset to LDNA for many years and holds life memberships with LDNA, Town Netball Club and Netball Victoria.

She has been a mentor to many umpires and the LDNA Committee members for 60 years.

This year’s Best and Fairest results:

13&Under Bottom Age: B&F Ashley Burgess and Runner up B&F Margot Gornell.

13&Under Top Age: B&F Cody Witton and runner-up B&F Rhys Grist & Eve Hansen.

15&Under: B&F Neka McKenzie and runner-up B&F Pepper Burke.

B Grade: B&F Bess Goodwin and runner-up B&F Ana Heneghan

A Grade: B&F Claudia Davern and runner-up B&F Tania Dagastino.

A big congratulations to all teams and players
