LEONGATHA’S Lacy Fennell was a proud member of Victorian U15 netball team that came in second at the recent School Sport Australia Games in Moreton Bay.
The team competed well together, playing two games per day and beating New South Wales in the semi-final.
A competitive game was played in the grand final, but the match ultimately went to South Australia.
“South Australia was the only team that beat us during the competition. The game started close, but they got away from us in the fourth quarter,” Lacy said.
Lacy played goal defence, centre and wing defence – a new position for her.

“All the games were very different, and I enjoyed playing a few different roles. I liked playing wing defence, because it was my first opportunity to try it out. I was a little scared because I wasn’t sure what to do, but I warmed to the position quickly. It was a really good experience,” she said.
“The whole thing was a lot of fun, and I made a lot of great connections with other players and coaches. I loved playing at such a high level of competition.”
Since making the team, Lacy has learned a lot from coaches Tracy Howard and Olivia Templeton.
Lacy is still deciding where her netball journey will take her, and she will continue to explore options as they appear.
Most recently, her pathway took her to trial for the Future Demons Training Program with Casey on Monday, August 25.
