Lone hand not enough for Kilcunda-Bass
Nyora’s Daniel Esler plays a nice shot to the offside in his side’s win over Kilcunda Bass.

• A Grade, Division 2

KEEPER and opener Shannon Rozario did his utmost to ensure Kilcunda Bass’ decision to bat paid off, making 78 runs off 111 balls.

However, Harrison Berry (18) and Bradley Waldron (17) were the only other Sharks to reach double figures, albeit a few batsmen didn’t get a hit during the side’s 40 overs.
Aidan Simmons helped prevent Kilcunda Bass setting a tougher total than its 5/151 by snavelling an excellent 2/14 off eight overs, accounting for Sharks opener Jaydan Tregear and number three batsman Daniel Ferguson cheaply.

Henry Dolphin was also tidy with 1/24 off eight overs and claimed the prized scalp of Rozario, having him caught by Lochie Row.
Captain Dolphin backed up his work with the ball with a score of 50, building a platform for Nyora success.

Gavin Hackett made an important 39 not out, with other handy contributions from keeper Kade Anderson (27) and Jake Hackett who registered an unbeaten score of 19 as Nyora knocked off the required target for the loss of just three wickets.
While Ryley Duff, Tregear and Jackson Baker were the wicket takers for Kilcunda Bass, Todd Smith deserves acknowledgement for his economical effort of none for 14 off eight overs.

MDU blasts win in Foster
AFTER choosing to bat, visitor Meeniyan Dumbalk United failed to bat out its 40 overs but it mattered little with its blistering innings amounting to 292 runs.
Tharindu Nuwan was the inspiration upon which the epic score was built, clubbing 109 off a mere 67 balls.

He despatched eight of those deliveries over the boundary, also hitting 10 fours.
Opener and captain Joel Sinclair was the other major contributor with the bat for MDU with 65 off 70 balls.

The spectacular MDU total received a major boost from an absurd extras tally of 52.
That included eight no balls and a staggering 32 wides.

Foster tried seven bowlers in its efforts to stem the tide, with Mitchell Jones taking 3/53 off his eight overs, while Brad Coates, Andrew Pattie and Wayne McDonald took a couple of wickets apiece.
Foster never threatened to manage the blistering 7.3 runs per over required, managing only 143 from its 40 overs despite having four wickets remaining.

MDU’s bowlers were far less generous in the extras department than Foster had been and made the Tigers work hard for their runs.
While Harvey Griggs impressed with 42 for Foster at almost a run a ball, he was run out by Jai Bright.

Foster skipper and keeper Mitchell Jones did his best to provide solidity for his side but his 40 not out came of 88 deliveries.
Steven Arnup was the multiple wicket taker for the triumphant MDU with 2/27 off his eight overs, with Bright, Mark Cantwell and Nuwan all economical in taking a wicket each.

Phillip Island makes right call against Glen Alvie
HOST Phillip Island was vindicated after sending Glen Alvie in, with the visitors battling to 7/148 off their 40 overs.
Glen Alvie captain and keeper Lachlan Harris opened for his side with a rapid 40 off 32 balls and Nathan Findlay finished unbeaten on 30, with three other members of the batting lineup making it into double figures but unable to press on.

Phillip Island shared the wickets around, with five of its six bowlers taking one each.
Clint Wilson was one of those to make a breakthrough, conceding just 11 runs off his full complement of overs.

Phillip Island’s top three batsmen got the chase off to a strong start, combining for 125 runs, highlighted by opener Daniel Bourke’s 57.
He fell with the team’s score just three runs behind Glen Alvie’s total.

Number three Sarith Angelo made 43 and Kurt Lane opened with 25 before being run out.
It was a tough ask for the Glen Alvie bowlers as they strived to defend a modest tally, with Dean Williams and Wayne Luke the only members of the attack to break through, each taking a solitary wicket.

Wonthaggi soundly beaten by Korumburra
HOME side Korumburra read the situation well, sending visitor Wonthaggi in and the Cobras bowlers backed the decision in spectacular style.
Wonthaggi was skittled for a measly 76 in a little under 30 overs.

Harshika Fernando grabbed 3/8 off his full allotment of overs with Steven Hamill the other Cobra to complete his overs, taking 3/18.
Sri Lankan teammate Inshaka Siriwardena was the other Korumburra bowler to manage more than one wicket with 2/14.

The Sri Lankan pair combined to guide Korumburra to a nine-wicket win after Cobras opener Tom Crocker fell for 12 to the bowling of Luke McGuirk.
