HISTORY was made recently as the Mary MacKillop Catholic Regional College Senior Girls Netball team claimed victory at the SSV State Titles, marking a milestone achievement for the school. The championship win capped off a dominant season, with the team competing in and conquering three separate competitions throughout the year. They began their campaign with a strong performance in the local competition, securing an easy win and progressing confidently to the regional level. There, they remained undefeated, solidifying their reputation as a formidable force on the court.
At the state finals, the girls faced a setback in their opening game against Rowville Sports Academy. However, showing resilience and determination, they bounced back, powering through the remaining matches. In a dramatic grand final rematch, they turned the tables on Rowville, defeating them
29 – 21 to secure the state title.
The College has expressed immense pride in the team – not just for their sporting excellence, but for the way they represented the school with integrity and sportsmanship throughout the competition.
The team was expertly guided by coach Ms Higgins, with Mr Maskell providing support as team manager.
