MEENIYAN-Dumbalk United powered to a commanding win, doubling the score of C Grade Grand Final opponent Yinnar to win by 16 goals.

Kate Lafferty starred as the Demons’ Goal Shooter, with her 29 goal-performance earning her the Best on Court Medal.

Goal Attack Jodie Arnup scored MDU’s other three goals.

“Everyone kept their composure in the hot weather,” co-coach Taz Boden said, noting that was a good achievement for a side with players aged mostly over 35.

Clearly the experience of the side paid off.

Boden summed up what the Demons did well in addition to Lafferty’s impressive shooting.

“Mel (Harris) and Amanda (Calder) defended well and ensured Yinnar had to shoot from a distance, with Rach (Cameron) and Sheree (Livingstone) bringing it down the court and Jodie (Arnup) feeding it into Kate (Lafferty), and Beth (Gibson) did some awesome intercepts,” Boden said.

Mia Cheffers, who divided her time between playing Centre and Goal Attack, topped the beaten Magpies’ scoring with seven goals.
