Nyora demolished by Trafalgar in 173-point loss

IT WAS a tough day at the Nyora Recreation Reserve as the Saints endured a 173-point loss to Trafalgar.

Sitting third on the ladder, Trafalgar made the most of its opportunities against Nyora.

Trafalgar kicked its first goal within the first five minutes of the game and continued to put the pressure on until it had a 34-point lead at quarter time.

William McGindle put Nyora on the scoreboard with a behind nine minutes through the first quarter.

Trafalgar’s dominance continued into the second quarter.

The away side’s goal-kicking efforts were led by Blake Slater, who kicked eight for the day.

Six more goals were put on the board by Isaac Caroleo throughout the game.

Nyora didn’t see the scoreboard again until Dylan Heylen managed another behind heading into halftime.

Nyora showed it still had some fight in it during the third quarter when Caleb Crestani snapped the second goal of the quarter.

However, Trafalgar continued its onslaught and headed into the final quarter of the game with a 151-point lead.

The last quarter was a defensive battle.

Tyler Hotckin kicked Nyora’s last goal at the eight-minute mark, which turned out to be the last score of the day.

Trafalgar kicked just four goals in the final quarter, but the work was more than done by this point.

The Bloods walked away with the points. 

For Nyora, the best players for the day were Aaron Coggins, Lucas Lee, Liam Simpson, Jordan Anderson, Sam Dixon and Crestani.

Nyora will do battle with Neerim South in round 16.

This will be another tough ask, as Nyora braces itself to take on the ladder leader.
