LEONGATHA’s A Grade netballers are onto the next stage of the finals after scoring a decisive victory against Moe at Morwell on Saturday.

While the Parrot’s C Grade also knocked out Morwell in an extremely tight match.

A Grade: Leongatha 63 def Moe 34

An incredibly quick start with both teams competing at cracking speed. The give and go between the shooters Jess Edgar and Hannah Flanders created a small lead. Inside ring passes created confusion for Moe. The quarter ended with parrots leading by 7, finalised with a rejection from Lauren Redpath.

Second quarter started with a screaming cross court intercept from Taylah Brown.

Another rejection from Lauren set the Parrots rolling through the quarter demonstrating an incredible team game, with some precision passing by Jade Cashin to finish the lead by 11.

Third quarter started with a tip from backliner Laura Higgins, to then a held ball thanks to the hands of Kayla Redpath.

Another intercept from Taylah continued the smooth run of the ball from end to end.

The quarter finished with the Parrots leading by 20 goals.

The last quarter was a smooth run home.

The mix up between Jade and Nicola Marriott throughout the game demonstrated the versatility and team structure to provide consistency.

The girls still put up a fight for every ball and scrap across the entire court, and didn’t take the foot off the pedal until the final whistle.

C Grade: Leongatha 39 def Morwell 30

The Parrots were being by two at half time.

Third quarter was full of tips from the back end but not quite turnovers.

The Parrots had to rethink their attack and protect the ball all the way into the ring.

Finished the quarter still two goals down.

In the final quarter Morwell mistakes led to turnovers in scraps.

For the last 7 minutes, the Parrots found their game; the attack and drive to then work it through to the shooters and the defence continuously making each and every tip.

The game ended as a draw, so it went into overtime.

The Parrots started with a quick three goals and ran away with it to take the win by 9.

U17s: Leongatha 20 def by Drouin 24

The girls took the court for a high-pressure game from the first quarter to the fourth.

The defensive pressure applied was fantastic by the whole team.

Unfortunately, we missed the opportunity to take home the win but had a fantastic season. Well done to Molly Heber for taking home the award after a consistent game and to all the girls for making it to the finals.

Under 15s: Leongatha 62 def Bairnsdale 27

The 15s’ started the game giving away the first two goals, from that point they switched on and took a convincing lead.

The first quarter was some of the best netball they’d played for the whole season.

Well done on a great first final, the whole team should be proud of the way they put our plans into action.

Their commitment to each other and the team, was clear to see.
