LYN Skillern (OAM) has added another incredible feat to her long list of achievements when she launched her new book ‘Forgotten For Too Long’ on Sunday.
Well known for her involvement with the Leongatha Historical Society, the book launch was well attended with guest speaker Peter Dennison, son of Lark Force survivor Cliff Dennison.
The book chronicles the stories of the 79 Gippslanders who served with Lark Force at Rabaul in New Britain during the early days of the Japanese advance in the South Pacific.
The historical society thanked families and descendants who attended on the day and shared their stories.
Lyn’s ongoing service to the community of Leongatha was acknowledged earlier this year when she was chosen to receive the Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM).
Her love for local history ensures most of her spare time is spent working on research and writing projects through the Leongatha Historical Society, which she joined in 1981.
Please contact the Historical Society to purchase a copy of the book.
