A SOLID win for Inverloch-Kongwak has tipped the Sea Eagles back into the top six for another week.

The Sea Eagles welcomed Koo Wee Rup to the Inverloch Recreation Reserve on Saturday and ultimately won the day by 34-points.

The home side got the jump early on Koo Wee Rup, as it moved the ball well out of the midfield.

Inverloch-Kongwak’s strong opening performance saw it 25 points ahead at the first siren.

Koo Wee Rup fought back in the second quarter, getting within seven points of the Sea Eagles before half time.

The roles reversed and Koo Wee Rup began showing better control of the ball, while the Sea Eagles struggled to capitalise on their opportunities.

The halftime break gave the Sea Eagles a chance to regroup and readjust, which allowed them to play an exceptional third quarter.

Inverloch-Kongwak reverted to its usual style and took control of the game, pushing the ball inside 50 a lot quicker.

Paul Pattison dominated through the midfield and Tate Short played a strong game up forward.

The fourth quarter appeared equal on the scoreboard, but Koo Wee Rup could not get any closer than 20 points away from Inverloch-Kongwak’s score.

This week, Inverloch-Kongwak will come up against the Warragul Industrials.

The Dusties are coming off a loss against Kilcunda-Bass, but a loss for the Sea Eagles will see the Panthers secure the sixth spot on the ladder ahead of finals.

Earlier in the season, Inverloch-Kongwak defeated the Dusties by eight points.

This was a tight contest that saw the Sea Eagles come back from 30 points down in the third quarter to win the game.

Inverloch-Kongwak is going into the match confident, but aware of the enormity of playing a strong, consistent game to ensure a win.

It will be spurred on by the excitement of Lewis Rankin playing his 200th game, as well as some premiership reunions as they take on the Dusties at home.
