THE U17s side faced off against Phillip Island on Saturday morning.

Winning the toss, the boys headed out for a bat first.

Tyson Lund (0) and Frazer Livingstone (10 retired not out) started off as the openers.

Losing Tyson early, the Cougars needed to get out there and steady the ship.

Eamon Berryman (20 retired not out) did just that.

Sharp bowling from the Sharks limited the Cougars to 2-64.

Ryan Jorgensen (14 retired not out) also getting amongst it.

On the bowling side of the game, the Cougars were put under the pump with the low score to defend.

However, the bowlers showed discipline and skill to barely miss out on getting them over the line.

Having them in a position of 5-19, we were looking on track to hold off the Sharks.

Louis Read (3/5 off four overs) took the best figures for the day, followed by Noah McLennan (2/7 off three overs).

Having them 7-49, the Cougars looked like they were going to get there.

However, Sharks batter Jobe Williams (28*) dragged them over the line.

The game was tied at 9-64 at 19.1 overs, but Jobe hit the winning runs to get the Sharks a well-fought win.

Congratulations to Phillip Island for the result in a close game.

Koonwarra L/RSL has the bye in the next round, thus the boys won’t play until December 6 against Korumburra.

The U15s rocked up to McMahon Reserve early Saturday morning to face off against Wonthaggi/Glen Alvie.

Captain Reggie Read won the toss and elected to bat.

Openers Josh Allen (4) and Tyeson Helms (0) started off shaky against strong bowlers.

Reggie Read (11 retired not out) came in to steady the ship.

Both Clancee Salmon (nine retired not out) and Lachlan Burge (10 retired not out) batted well, departing before building into a strong innings.

It was Dihen Yuthmika who came in late to score the crucial runs, finishing 11 not out off 14 balls leading the Cougars to 4-68.

The Cougars headed out to bowl with a modest total on the board.

The opposition have a very strong batting side, so to bowl out Jed Caddy early was very handy.

Reggie Read (1/11 off three overs) opened well alongside Shem Hickey (0/14 off three overs), Josh Allen also picked up a wicket taking 1/11 off his three overs.

Blake Ton came out smashing the ball, making 33 runs off just 14 balls.

The game finished early as they had already passed the Cougar’s score (2-93 off 15 overs).

The boys would have learned a lot from this game, Wonthaggi/Glen Alvie showed great skill amongst their ranks, much to look up to.

Congratulations to the opposition, the club looks forward to the competitive matches later on in the year.

Koonwarra L/RSL has the bye for the next round, so the next game won’t be until December 6 against OMK.
