Recently I contacted Hancock plantation’s regarding their staff having claimed of seeing a Tasmanian Tiger in the Strzelecki Ranges.
I received a reply which was welcome and informed that they had no information on the matter.
What I was not told, and I recently uncovered was the fact they contract out the on ground work to Hazelwood forestry.
A month ago, I contacted the owner of this company via email and asked have any of their staff claimed to have seen a Tasmanian tiger in the Strzelecki Ranges.
I have sadly not received a reply, so maybe Hazelwood forestry can reply to this email publicly via here.
Alleged sightings go back in that catchment to at least the 1950s, and in 1998 I have no doubt I videotaped one from a distance on the South Gippsland edge of the Strzelecki ranges.
Scientifically it’s possible as there has not been mammal surveys completed for this creature in the Strzelecki’s etc.
I contacted the local member for South Gippsland also recently Mr Danny O’Brien and was informed quote “what do you want me to do about it?”
