RED Rocks golfers took part in ‘The Longest Day’ golf marathon this week – testing their skill, strength, and stamina on the course to raise awareness and funds for the Cancer Council’s research, prevention and support services.
Players Geoff Cohen and David Pearce were supported by the golf club – formally known as Aussie Golf Ranch - donating their green fees to the great cause. The pair challenged themselves – completing 72 holes, consisting of 8x9 holes with Geoff sharing that Red Rocks course is a nice easy walk and as a nine-hole course its best for such a day.
“We completed the 72 holes in 10 hours, teeing off at 8.00am and finishing up at 6:00pm (taking out half an hour for lunch) we were a little weary, but proud of ourselves for the achievement,” said Geoff.
“We’d like to thank the club for their support in the challenge. So many of us are touched by cancer in some way and we took on this challenge for those we know who have suffered with cancer over the years.
“We contributed to the $20,000 that was raised on ‘The Longest Day’,” said Geoff.
All the funds raised help programs and research that will lead to a cancer free future.
