IT WAS a case of Foster winning the battle but Leongatha Town winning the war following the B2 grand final over the weekend.
Foster pipped Leongatha Town on the ladder in the final round, claiming the minor premiership, but Town won the game that mattered and was crowned the 2024/25 premier.
Playing at Foster’s home ground, Town launched the match with a successful toss and chose to bat.
Town was rattled early when Max Hardy was lost for a duck, but Trent McRae kept the momentum alive with 65 runs.
Foster bowler Jack Gay went on a run that slowed Town’s run rate through the top of the batting order, but Luke Bowman and Luke Ashton had Town back on course with 27 and 22 runs respectively.
Gay was in top form, claiming eight of Town’s wickets.
Neil Henry and Brett Gay took the remaining two wickets.
Town’s Davern Goss ended the day with a handy 32 runs.









Leongatha Town set the target for Foster when it was bowled out 10/217.
Jack Gay and Jake Pilkington opened for Foster and had their team off to a promising start with 35 and 31 runs respectively.
However, the rest of the innings proved incredibly challenging for Foster.
Fourth bat Billy Davy contributed the only other significant score with 17 runs.
Leongatha Town’s Pandukabhaya Jayasinghe caused the most damage for Foster, taking 5/23.
Jayasinghe largely took out the tailenders, ending Foster’s run early.
Three wickets were taken by Lachlan Gill and two wickets were taken by Levi Hickey.
Foster was all out after 52 overs, conceding defeat with a score of 10/125.
