THE Bass Coast Breakers secured a spot in the grand final with a strong win against Coburg.
The Breakers got off to a good start, however, Coburg were the first to fire - scoring five minutes in. The rest of the quarter was all the Breakers, with the forward line finding some good scoring opportunities into the wind.
The first goal coming via a great chain between Immy Bradford and Carly Heislers to set up Kelly O’Neill who converted a set shot.
A lucky bounce in the goal square gave O’Neill her second a few minutes later.
Despite good defence from the Breakers, Coburg had some chances in the second quarter but couldn’t convert into the wind.
The Breakers added one more to their tally via a set shot from Tess Angarane.
Half time Breakers 3.6-24 to Coburg 1.3-9
Despite a handy lead going into the second half the Breakers knew they would have to keep their pressure up.
The intensity lifted for both teams with a lot of the play occurring between the two arcs.
Ahlee Penry slotted into the ever-reliable half back line marking and contesting well.
Neither team could find a goal with Coburg narrowing the margin by a single point with the wind.
The final quarter started in the same fashion.
A 50m penalty gifted Coburg a goal and brought the margin within reach.
However, the Breakers were quick to respond with O’Neill slotting her third goal.
