WITH heavy rain predicted the clouds parted and the wind dropped just in time for the women’s match at Inverloch on Saturday evening.
The Breakers were celebrating the 50-game milestone for Grace Hope who has really developed her game in her second season with the team.
The contest started pretty tight with both midfields not giving an inch.
The Breakers were first to attack with a goal to Tayla Stahl.
Edithvale-Aspendale responded late in the quarter with a second goal just before the siren giving the visitors momentum going into the second quarter.
With Edi-Asp on the attack, Brooke McKean did a great job at full-back to shut down her opponent, however, they still managed to find two goals for the quarter. The Breakers added just one – again through Stahl.

The fast-running Edi-Asp team enjoyed the big ground and got on top in the second half. Molly Conroy and Sophie McCracken-Evans continually made a contest across half back with Katie Cornish providing great drive out of defence.
Tess Wingfield and Cloe Booth battled it out through the middle with the forwards working hard but unable to create scoring opportunities.
Overall, it was a great contest and a great chance for the Breakers to identify some areas for improvement moving into the second half of the season.
Final score: Edi-Asp 7.4-34 def Breakers 2.1-13
Goals: Tayla Stahl 2
Best: Sophie McCracken-Evan’s, Cloe Booth, Molly Conroy, Tess Angarane, Gaby Hynes
