Chance to make money while also benefiting OMK Cricket Club

OMK Cricket Club is keen to add more sellers to its March 30 auction at which it will be raising funds towards the construction of new practice pitches and nets, with the Diggers already having an impressive range of items to sell.

SEJ’s Jimmy Kyle and Paul Wilson are volunteering their time to run the auction and are sure to make it an entertaining affair.

Apart from donated items, the club will take a commission on the sales made.

The cricket net project is estimated at $100,000, with the concrete pitches to be replaced and covered with synthetic turf, and new netting. 

Cricket Australia is contributing $30,000 to the project, while South Gippsland Shire Council is providing $10,000 through a Community Grant.

Club president Russ White is hopeful the auction will raise over $20,000.

Some of the available items come from his family’s recently sold Leongatha South dairy farm.

They include a McIntosh Titan 1000 silage wagon that feeds out on the side, and a Massey Ferguson 110 horsepower tractor.

“It’s a good general all-around tractor; it does most things and it’s been very good for me over the years,” Russ said.

There are a couple of Honda quadbikes up for grabs, a brand new Pottinger power harrow that cultivates the ground to sow grass seed, and a Kubota side-by-side vehicle.

A hay rake, building materials and lots more are on offer.
