A Grade, Division 1

WONTHAGGI Club overpowered Nerrena in Saturday’s one day match at Wonthaggi’s McMahon Reserve.

Club started on its winning way when it won the toss and went in to bat first.

Entering at 1/17, Ben Walsh added 50 runs to the account before a catch from Josh Checkley had him sidelined.

Batting midway through the order, captain Joel Brann led his team to victory with an impressive 87 runs.

Multiple wickets were claimed by Josh Trease and Jarrod Hoy.

Club was sitting comfortably at 7/210 after its 40 overs.

Captain Mitchell Clark opened the batting for Nerrena and added 26 runs to the account.

Club’s fielding kept the pressure on Nerrena and dwindled the batting order down until Caine Salmon rounded out the innings with another 23 runs.

Mark McCall caused the most damage against Nerrena, claiming 4/20, whilst Jarvis Harvey took 3/23.

Nerrena was defeated with a total of 10/108.

Mudassar Riaz and Noel Creed increased OMK’s tally with 34 and 31 runs respectively.

OMK wrapped up its innings with 8/201.

Unfazed by the challenge ahead, Imperials’ opening batsmen Luke Rogers and Nick Eddy combined well to reach 34 and 55 runs respectively.

Jacob Strickland kept the Stingrays in the game with 20 runs before he was stumped.
