Competitive scores recorded in women’s cricket doubleheader
Phillip Island’s Rosanna (wicket keeper), Grace (top scorer in both games), Katie (player of the match in round four) and Winnie played sensational games during the women’s double header.

Round 4
THE wind was at full strength as the Phillip Island women’s cricket team arrived at Bass 2 for the round four clash against Kilcunda-Bass Hammerheads. 
The first game of the doubleheader, Captain Bec won the toss and elected to field. 
Grace opened the bowling and achieved quick success with two wickets in her first over. 
Kate and B soon followed up with wickets of their own. 
Katie then bowled with pace to claim the next two wickets and Jess two more. 
Winnie finished the first rotation with great line and length to claim a wicket of her own. 
Katie claimed another two wickets in her second over, taking her total to an incredible 4/7. 
Rosanna worked tirelessly behind the stumps, contributing to six runouts and Jane, Claudia, Jess and Bec joined the wicket haul ensuring that the Island women finished their innings with every bowler getting a wicket. 
The Kilcunda-Bass Hammerheads finished their innings on 71 runs.
Rosanna and Katie opened the batting for the Island. 
Rosanna smashed two well-placed boundaries and Katie ran effortlessly to turn the strike over, a brilliant 25-run partnership. Grace and Jane demonstrated pure skill, with Grace top scoring with 17 runs, including two boundaries. 
The Island reached 53 at the change. 
Jess was up for the challenge, with three well-placed balls sailing to the boundary, inspiring B to a beautifully placed boundary down the ground. 
The score reached 82. 
Bec, Claudia and Kate all ran well between the wickets and Winnie finished the game with a very powerful four. 
The Island won the game with 126 runs. 
Congratulations to Katie, the Phillip Island Ten Pin Bowling and Entertainment Centre player of the match.

Wonthaggi Club vs. Glen Alvie
GLEN Alvie took on Wonthaggi Club at Leongatha’s Scorpion Park 2, resulting in a victory.
Club won the toss and chose to bat first.
Megan Krause opened the batting for Club and made six runs, which was looking to be the top score until Amanda Goodsell stepped up eighth in the order and made 11 runs.
Lauren Sinclair recorded Glen Alvie’s best bowling scores, taking 3/8.
Club finished its 20 overs with 61 runs to defend.
After the changeover, Ella Angarane opened Glen Alvie’s account and made 17 runs off 12 balls.
This was Glen Alvie’s top score, but the contribution of Captain Gaby Hynes’ 14 runs and Ella Cargill’s 15 runs pushed Glen Alvie ahead.
Rahni Mann was Club’s best bowler, taking 2/14. 
Singles were taken by Megan and Amanda.
With a total of 95, the game went to Glen Alvie. 

Kilcunda-Bass Great Whites vs. Nyora
KILCUNDA-BASS welcomed Nyora to its home ground for a thriller.
Nyora won the toss and chose to bat.
Amanda Linford set the standard for the game when she made 19 runs off 12 balls.
This was Nyora’s most impressive score until Krystin Wurzbacher stepped up and managed to make 28 runs during her allotted overs, including six fours.
Millie Gold gave a strong performance, claiming 3/26.
Kilcunda-Bass held Nyora back from crossing into triple figures, leaving Nyora to defend 99 runs.
The Great Whites proved it was up to the challenge by getting over the line by three runs.
Kristie Jacobs paired well with a fill-in for the side, making 14 and 10 runs respectively.
Wicket-taking was shared well between the Nyora bowlers, with Amanda, Shona Lynch and a private player each taking two wickets.
With 102 runs, the game went to the Great Whites. 

Leongatha Town vs. Koonwarra L/RSL
High scores were the order of the day between Town and Koonwarra L/RSL.
Playing at Leongatha’s Scorpion Park 1, Town won the toss and made a good decision by choosing to bat first.
Nat Challis led the charge with 15 runs, with Sarah Knox contributing 14 runs.
The top score came later in the innings when captain Sari Hickey delivered 17 runs.
Single wickets were taken by Koonwarra L/RSL bowlers Teagan Hughes, Kim Peters and captain Britney Thomas.
At the end of the 20 overs, Town had amassed 122 runs.
This turned out to be out of Koonwarra L/RSL’s reach, but the side still put up a great battle.
The biggest effort of the day came from Kathy Zacharopoulos, who recorded 31 runs, including two sixes.
Lucy Carter claimed the most wickets for Town, taking 2/6.
Sari, Brenda Stewart, Chiara Marinou and Nat took single wickets.
With 106 runs, Koonwarra L/RSL conceded defeat to Town.
