WASTED opportunities from Dalyston allowed Cora Lynn to run away with a 76-point win on Saturday.

Dalyston was shaken by a couple of late outs – taking the total of missing players up to four – but seemed to adjust quickly with a close first quarter.

Playing in front of a home crowd, the Magpies excited the Dalyston faithful when it kept within eight points of the Cobras in the first quarter.

With few mistakes made during the opening term, Dalyston just had to find a way to hit its targets once it entered the forward line.

However, it was Cora Lynn’s time to shine through the second and third quarters.

Four goals were kicked by the Cobras in the second quarter, followed by six in the third.

Their goal-kicking efforts were once again led by Nathan Gardiner, who bagged seven for the day.

Regardless, Dalyston could not fault the game by Ben Lewis, who proved to be a quality player against a tough opponent.

Strong defensive work was also produced by Brady O’Toole in centre half-back.

O’Toole was moved into centre half back last week and used his height well throughout the match up with Cora Lynn.

Dalyston’s first quarter energy returned for the last quarter, but by then it was too late to slow Cora Lynn.

Dino Karamoshos once again found himself in the best players list after playing a versatile game through the middle.

Karamoshos continues to showcase silky skills and the ability to deliver the ball well but now needs someone to lead out and finish off the work.

Kyle Hutchinson also played an exceptional game through the middle.

Hutchinson looks professional out on the ground and is always rock solid, earning the respect of his teammates and Dalyston supporters.

Dalyston is now gearing up to face Kilcunda-Bass next week.

The game between local rivals is shaping up to be an interesting one, with Dalyston expecting at least two of its key players to return.

Needing to regroup quickly Dalyston will be focusing on better connection between the arcs.

The Magpies will be aiming for consistency and will go into the game with confidence to  ensure an exciting match up.
