NYORA captain Henry Dolphin marched his team to an extraordinary total of 10/325 with a 118-run haul on Saturday.
Coming up against Wonthaggi Club, Nyora won the toss and chose to bat.
Dolphin opened the batting for Nyora and was a force to be reckoned with until he was run out.
However, Nyora wasn’t finished.
Jack Hackett contributed an impressive 82 runs to the scoreboard.
Club’s bowler Jai Williamson gave the best performance for the away side, claiming 3/48.
Multiple wickets also fell to Heath Dobbie.
With a demanding task ahead, Club will have its opportunity to bat this Saturday.
Cougars put the pressure on Nerrena
KOONWARRA L/RSL ended its innings with a handy score against Nerrena on Saturday.
Isuru Darshana steered the Cougars’ innings in the right direction when he made 52 runs.
He was sidelined by a catch taken by James Kelly.
Azhar Mehmood later top scored with 68 runs.
Nerrena bowler Mitchell Croatto kept the Cougars on their toes, taking 4/31.
Tyson Harris also put the pressure on, claiming 3/29.
Koonwarra L/RSL finished its run with a final score of 10/235.
Nerrena opened its account and faced 14 overs.
Captain Dave Trotman made six runs before he was caught by James Rushton.
Kelly and Billy Trotman made 31 and three runs respectively to remain not out.
Nerrena had made 1/42 at stumps and will continue its innings this Saturday.
Target set for Kilcunda-Bass
KILCUNDA-BASS will be eying off MDU’s total of 10/181 coming into the second day of the two-day match this Saturday.
Playing at the Meeniyan Recreation Reserve, MDU won the toss and went into bat.
Paul Le Page was MDU’s star batsman, making 54 runs before he was bowled LBW by Todd Smith.
Steve Arnup also contributed nicely to MDU’s tally, hitting 41 runs.
Kilcunda-Bass bowler Chris Peckett caused some trouble for MDU, picking off 4/10.
Multiple wickets were also taken by captain Ryley Duff and Matthew Grayson.
MDU will now be looking to defend its score.
Glen Alvie goes in for battle
FOSTER will be looking to fend off a hungry Glen Alvie side on Saturday.
With Foster sitting just above Glen Alvie on the ladder, Glen Alvie went into the first day of the two-day match ready for a fight.
Foster won the toss and chose to bat.
Things weren’t looking good for Foster early, as opening batsmen Mitchell Jones and captain Josh Toner were both dismissed without scoring.
Jake Staley and Ben East stepped up to the crease and rectified the situation, putting 32 and 35 runs on the scoreboard respectively.
Multiple wickets fell to Glen Alvie bowlers Ryan Sinclair, Dean Williams and Zack Scholz.
Foster finished its innings on 10/127.
Matthew Donohue and Scott Peatling opened the batting for Glen Alvie.
The pair made 10 and 38 runs respectively and were not out at stumps.
Glen Alvie successfully played out 14 overs unbeaten to be 0/54.
It will continue its run this Saturday.
