A Grade, Division 2

GLEN Alvie batsmen Matthew Donohue and Matthew Dakin were a formidable force on Saturday, as both recorded a ton against Kilcunda-Bass.

Kilcunda-Bass won the toss and sent Glen Alvie into bat first – a favourable decision for Glen Alvie, who went in ready for battle.

Donohue opened the batting with Archie Moore.

Glen Alvie suffered a hiccup when Moore was bowled out by Cameron Davidson for a duck but regrouped as it sent in Dakin.

Donohue finished the innings with 103 not out and Dakin made 137 runs before Harrison Berry managed to claim his wicket.

Captain Ben McRae added 30 runs and Darcy Hale made 19 not out.

Wickets were shared between Kilcunda-Bass bowlers Davidson, Berry and Brad Wright.

Glen Alvie is sitting fairly comfortably with a score of 3/298, waiting to be challenged by Kilcunda-Bass this weekend.

Inverloch falls to Simmons spell

NYORA vice-captain Aidan Simmons ensured Inverloch struggled to get runs on the board at the Nyora Recreation Reserve on Saturday.

Simmons claimed 5/39, swiftly dismissing the top half of the order.

This included Inverloch’s top scorer Jake Dennerley, who managed to make 29 runs.

Bowlers Aaron Kaddatz and captain Jake Henry joined the attack with 3/57 and 2/0 respectively.

Inverloch batsmen Callum Asbury and Jack Butcher contributed 16 and 14 runs early on before they were both dismissed by Kaddatz and Jesse Dugard ended the innings with 10 not out.

Inverloch was bowled out on 10/96.

Nyora faced 21 overs, but Inverloch came out with a vengeance, eager to make scoring opportunities just as difficult.

Henry Dolphin and Colin Knox opened the batting.

Dolphin made 11 runs before he was run out by David Newman and Knox made six runs before Asbury claimed his wicket after a catch from Butcher.

Bailey Henderson and Michael Lynch were not out, having made three runs each.

Sitting on 2/26, Nyora will continue its campaign this weekend.

Foster fights back

MDU won the toss and chose to bat.

The opening partnership of Paul Le Page and vice-captain Mitch McGrath posted the top scores of 33 and 59 runs respectively.

The Foster bowlers kept scores low for the rest of the innings.
