AN impressive 124-run haul from Matthew Donohue has Glen Alvie sitting comfortably in its two-day match against Kilcunda-Bass.
Playing at Wonthaggi’s Butch West oval, Glen Alvie won the toss and stepped up to the wicket first.
Donohue opened the batting for Glen Alvie, making his ton before he was bowled by Todd Smith.
Captain Stephen Kennedy later contributed 89 runs before he was dismissed by a catch from Cameron Davidson.
Wickets were shared amongst the Kilcunda-Bass bowlers, with Smith, Harrison Berry, Owen Thomas and Matthew Grayson taking one each.
Glen Alvie closed its innings with a score of 5/276. Kilcunda-Bass will bat on Saturday.
Nyora eye another win
LADDER leader Nyora produced a solid innings against Nerrena, including a ton from Jake Hackett.
Hackett proved unstoppable, coming in to bat at number four and making 109 runs.
He was not out at stumps.
Captain Henry Dolphin had opened the batting and made 37 runs.
Another 25 runs was added by vice captain Jake Henry.
Nerrena’s top bowlers were Jaxon Checkley and Tyson Harris, who took 3/46 and 3/43 respectively.
Zack Trease was also claimed multiple wickets.
Nyora recorded a total of 9/249 at the end of its innings.
Nerrena will bat on Saturday.
MDU show competitive edge
PAUL Le Page led the charge for a competitive score for MDU in its two-day match against Foster.


Playing at Foster, MDU won the toss and went into bat.
The away team suffered a slow start, with the opening partnership quickly dismissed by Foster bowler Jack Weston.
Le Page stepped in and made 119 runs before his innings was ended by a catch from Jake Staley.
Mark Cantwell added 32 runs late in the innings and was not out.
Weston was Foster’s top bowler, claiming 4/54.
Eddie Smith took 2/20.
MDU ended the day with 9/234, with Foster ready to bat this Saturday.
Club battle it out
WONTHAGGI Club will need to dig deep to defend its total from Koonwarra L/RSL.
Club won the toss and chose to bat.
Sean Roche and Justin Licis top scored, each making 26 runs.
Vice captain Jason O’Reilly contributed 15 runs.
Koonwarra L/RSL bowlers Jason Kennedy and Nathan Trotto enjoyed a successful day, taking 3/15 and 3/13 respectively.
Callum Buckland claimed 2/4, cleaning up the bottom of the order and ending the innings.
Club is set to defend 10/121.

Captain James Rushton and Michael Thomas opened the batting, making 12 and 10 runs respectively.
Both were not out at stumps, leaving Koonwarra L/RSL sitting on a total of 0/23 ahead of Saturday’s second day.
