A Grade, Divison 2

A STRONG innings for Glen Alvie will challenge MDU this weekend.

Glen Alvie travelled to the Meeniyan Recreation Reserve, where the home side won the toss and sent its visitors into bat first.

The opening partnership of Matthew Donohue and Archie Moore paired well to produce 50 and 23 runs respectively.

Darcy Hale later top-scored with a handy 70-run haul before he was bowled by Sam Bright.

However, MDU kept itself well in the game with some skilful bowling from vice-captain Mitch McGrath.

McGrath took 4/41, with single wickets taken by Mark Cantwell, Bright, Jake Palmer, Scott Browne and Zak Bright.

Glen Alvie was bowled out 10/195 after 62 overs.

Tyrone Zukovskis and McGrath opened the batting for MDU and made six and 22 not out respectively, ready to pick up where they left off on Saturday.

Foster’s bowling brilliance restricts Inverloch

A SOLID bowling effort from Foster rattled Inverloch in the battle of the top teams on Saturday.

Five Foster bowlers claimed two wickets each – Jake Best, Ollie Rook, Josh Toner, a fill-in and a private player.

This resulted in a relatively low score from the Inverloch batsmen.

Jack Butcher kept the Stingrays in the hunt with 27 runs.

However, it was captain David Newman who brought Inverloch’s score into a competitive range when he ended the innings with 59 runs.

Inverloch made a total of 10/179.

Foster launched into its innings with Toner making 14 runs.

Wickets were taken by Inverloch bowlers Lewis Rankin and Callum Asbury.

Mitchell Allott and Best were not out at the end of the innings, with Foster sitting on 2/24.

Nyora in the driver’s seat

KILCUNDA-BASS will be digging deep to hold on to a win against third-placed Nyora this weekend.

The Sharks won the toss and chose to bat, with Cameron Davidson and Aaron Conron as the opening partnership.

Davidson was dismissed for a duck off the bowling of Aaron Kaddatz, but Conron went on to make 32 runs.

The top score came from captain Matthew Grayson with 38 runs.

Shaun Lucas contributed 21 not out.

Nyora bowler Mitch Rowe ensured opportunities to hit the scoreboard were scarce heading into the end of the innings, taking 4/52.

Three wickets were taken by Kaddatz, followed by Aaron Thompson with two wickets.

Kilcunda-Bass ended its innings bowled out 10/145.

Nyora played six overs, which saw Colin Knox bowled out for four runs by Davidson.

Henry Dolphin and Rowe will continue their run on Saturday.

Nyora’s current score is 1/14.
