HOLLY Williams represented Leongatha and District Cricket Association in the U15s Gippsland Pride team recently.
The U15s progressed to the grand final at Junction Oval on Sunday, but unfortunately the game was washed out after 14 overs.
Due to its higher position on the ladder, the Central Highlands team was named the overall winner.
The experience of playing at Junction Oval was a memorable one for Holly, who opened the batting for Gippsland Pride and was not out when the match was abandoned.
Gippsland Pride made it through to the grand final after playing in the Country Cup Carnival from December 18 to 21.
The carnival featured two 40 over matches and two T20s.
Gippsland Pride won three out of the four matches, ending up on top of the Eastern Victoria pool.
The carnival was held in Wodonga.
“It was a great carnival and special for Holly to get to play at Junction Oval,” Holly’s father Warren said.

“They stayed at a boarding school with the other teams during the carnival, so it was a good opportunity to form more friendships.”
The selection process for Gippsland Pride started in June and resulted in a 13-girl squad in September.
Training in preparation for the carnival took place at the Moe Indoor Cricket Centre and the Yinnar Recreation Reserve.
Inspired by her father and brother, Holly has played and loved cricket since she was 10.
She currently plays for Inverloch’s U15 side, as well as with the Stingettes every second Sunday.
She is an opening batter but proving to be an all rounder on the field.
Holly aims to continue pursuing her cricket career.
She can continue playing with Inverloch’s junior squad through the U17s and may also consider competing in the Margaret Jennings Cup.
This is an U18 Premier Competition with Dandenong likely to be her club of choice.
