The all-Leongatha Semi at the Leongatha Rec saw some great cricket played in front of the big crowd. Imps batting first posted a very good score with Man of the Match Clayton Quaife batting brilliantly, he was well supported by Zavier Lamers and Aydan Williams. Ethan Smith getting three wickets with his leg spin did a good job for Town. Smith and Lou Read got the Town innings off to a steady start both batting very patiently but the loss of Smith sparked a collapse of 6/23. Jack Aeschlimann then played a great counter attacking innings hitting the ball hard, highlighted by two big sixes to the Roughead St side of the oval. Imps bowling was very disciplined, Aydan Williams bowling with good pace to claim four wickets.
It promised to be a great game and it certainly did deliver, with Inverloch coming away victors in an epic Semi-final that both teams should be congratulated on.
Man Of the Match Riley Harris opened with Andot Mankhong and a 50-run opening stand had them in good shape, a few quick wickets had them on the back foot at 3/84 but a good partnership between Harris and Archie Terlich of 63 ensured Invy would post a good total, Harris batting extremely well once again showing his class and great temperament. Tim Niven the best of the Island bowlers with three wickets.
Phillip Island’s chase started well with Max Arceo looking in good touch despite a few wickets falling around him, When Arceo was dismissed and the in form George McCausland shortly after the Island had stumbled to 4/54 Tim Niven and Justin Tran then batted very well to add nearly 50 and put the Island back in the game, steady wickets again started to fall and Niven who had delivered under pressure with the bat on several occasions was again the the key to getting the Island home, in a tense final few overs it was Ty Debono who held his nerve, and in the last over with the Island needing 8 to win he claimed the last wicket to give Inverloch a berth in the Grand Final.

Phillip Island claimed a spot in this year’s GF with a good win over Korumburra.

Jobe Williams was named Man of the Match batting brilliantly for 53 retired with some classic cover drives the feature, Archie Williams again showing his great talent with a well made 36. Hudson
Jefferis bowled very well for the Burra to claim three wickets, Korumburra’s innings struggled to gain any momentum with young left armer Jackson Allan bowling brilliantly for his five wickets including the big scalp of Gooch first ball. Jayden Douglas batted well for the Burra for his 28.
Glen Alvie showed that they are a very good team, batting first the top order all making contributions to set the very good total of 178,
openers Moore and Donohue setting the tone early with patient and well-paced innings setting it up for big hitters, Man of the Match Jack Brown and Harvey Smith to finish off the innings, Fin Stechway and Hudson Guymer bowled well to claim a wicket each for NER/MDU. The chase got off to a tough start for the combine with three early wickets lost, Archie Luke proving to be a handful for the batters,
Riley Prosser and Eamon Berryman having a good partnership through the middle, Berryman continued his great season with a well compiled 46 and young Josh Allen showing plenty of promise for the future with his sound technique before being run out, Codi Duscher claimed three wickets in a good spell of bowling.
Well done to everyone for a great Semi Final Day. The support at all games was fantastic, thanks to the LDCA Umpires for continuing to support Junior Cricket and the venues for hosting.
We look forward to a great Grand Final day next Sunday.
