PHILLIP Island and OMK will compete for the title of B1 premiers in this weekend’s grand final.
OMK earned its way into the grand final after a close clash with Inverloch.
The match was played at the Inverloch Recreation Reserve and Inverloch won the toss, choosing to bat first.
Captain Brett Debono opened the batting and had Inverloch off to a comfortable start, making 52 runs.
Coming in at number four, Greg Eddy managed to contribute 37 runs, but runs were hard to come by throughout the rest of the innings.
OMK captain Kris Kerr had Inverloch feeling the heat, taking 6/54.
Rueben Foster and Barry Wyatt were also multiple wicket takers.
OMK bowled Inverloch out 10/154.
The Diggers were rattled early when they lost opening batsman Adam Busana for a golden duck.
However, his opening partner Luke Jones was able to rally and recorded a game changing 71 runs before he was bowled by Ty Debono.
Bowlers Cooper Newman and Isaac Seuren did what they could to stifle OMK’s innings, taking 4/31 and 3/56 respectively, but Jones had done the job.
OMK won the game with a score of 9/156.
Sharks bound for grand final
PHILLIP Island outplayed Korumburra for its spot in the grand final.
Played at Newhaven Recreation Reserve, Korumburra won the toss and decided to bat.
Trevor Allen made a good start to the innings with 31 runs.
Captain Shane Dole hit the top score of 54 runs, with Jeffery Walsh and Mathew Olden later making 29 and 24 runs respectively.
Heath Womersley was the standout bowler for Phillip Island, claiming 4/43.
Timothy Niven and captain Kurt Lane took two wickets each.
Phillip Island went into its innings with its eyes set on the target of 10/194.
Connor Epifano and Lane ensured Phillip Island’s win with 67 and 37 runs.
Dole continued his form, taking 3/64, with other wickets shared between Olden, Matthew Loader and Scott Head.
However, Phillip Island proved to be the stronger team and claimed victory.
Phillip Island’s final score was 6/196.
B Grade, Division 2
OMK stride into the grand final




OMK and Phillip Island will feature in the B2 grand final after convincing wins on Saturday.
OMK played its semi-final against Kilcunda-Bass at the Outtrim Recreation Reserve.
Choosing to bat first, OMK sent in Russ White to open the batting, who made a handy 49 runs.
Bradley Hayes later made the difference for OMK, making 73 runs.
Scott Handley and Justin Greenwood contributed 30 and 26 runs respectively.
Kilcunda-Bass pushed back against OMK’s run with Ben Rookes taking 3/56.
Other wickets were shared between Jacob Havetta, James Mahood and captain Bradley Waldron.
OMK challenged Kilcunda-Bass with a final total of 6/232.
Kilcunda-Bass opened well with Brett Joseph making 27 runs.
However, OMK bowlers White and Greenwood ensured Kilcunda-Bass couldn’t pick up the momentum required, taking three wickets each.
Robert Blackney and Mahood contributed 38 and 29 runs respectively later in the innings.
Kilcunda-Bass conceded defeat, with a score of 9/154.
Sharks outplay the Red Caps
A STRONG innings from Tharidu Asurumuni and David Womersley secured the grand final spot for Phillip Island against Nerrena.
Nerrena hosted the semi-final and Phillip Island won the toss.
Asurumuni and Womersley put 68 and 61 runs on the scoreboard respectively.
A further 22 runs was added by Tony Hornsby.
For Nerrena, Charlie Dougherty was the standout bowler, taking 4/55.
Scott Checkley and Eamon Berryman claimed two wickets each.
At the end of its allotted overs, Phillip Island was sitting comfortably with a score of 9/278.
Cameron Baudinette impressed with an 86-run haul, but it was not enough to save the match the Nerrena.
Baudinette recorded the top score before a catch from David Ivey saw him dismissed.
Ben Croatto and Dougherty added 33 and 31 runs respectively.
Dougherty was not out at stumps.
Phillip Island captain Tarryn Allan kept the game in the Sharks’ favour, taking 5/51.
Clint Wilson also performed well, taking 3/17.
Nerrena pulled up short with a final score of 10/215.
