IT was a tough day for Glen Alvie, with a losing streak beginning with the toss.
Kilcunda-Bass took control after electing to bat first.
Paul Cornelis and Paul Hammer combined well to add 39 and 44 runs respectively.
Glen Alvie gained a second wind when a catch by Ian Thorn dismissed Gregory Miller for a duck, but Kilcunda-Bass was not to be outdone and continued to steadily increase its account.
Kilcunda-Bass set the challenge at 8/157.
Heidi Driscoll worked hard to keep Glen Alvie’s hopes alive, taking 3/20.
Kilcunda-Bass had its revenge by taking three ducks throughout the innings, dismissing Thorn, Cooper Stewart and Jarvis Hynes.
Ryan Luke opened the batting for Glen Alvie and added 18 runs, but that was to be the highlight for the battling away side.
Alister McBride caused havoc for Glen Alvie’s batting line up, taking 3/11.
Glen Alvie scraped together a final score of 8/71.
Nyora outplay Korumburra
NYORA surpassed Korumburra’s total in Saturday’s round seven clash.
Korumburra won the toss and went into bat but experienced a sluggish start.
Batsman Noah Belvedere opened the account and contributed 15 runs before he was bowled by Nyora’s Tyler Perkins.
Perkins and Kyle Maclure put the pressure on the Cobras, taking 2/22 each.
The Cobras pushed back with a fill in contributing 52 not out, allowing the total to reach 7/125.
Batsman Ben Pugh happily met the challenge, establishing Nyora’s hold on the match with 55 of 47 balls before he was bowled by Christopher Mileto.
Mileto wasn’t letting Nyora have it easily, dismissing three of Korumburra’s lineup.



A further 21 runs from Keith Linford ensured Nyora was able to confidently chase Korumburra’s final score.
Nyora won the day 4/130.
MDU hold back the Cougars
KOONWARRA/LRSL struggled against a competitive MDU side.
The Cougars won the toss and chose to send MDU to bat first.
Wayne Cocksedge and John Phillips produced a respectable 31 and 32 runs for MDU, with Glen Cocksedge later contributing 21 not out.
Wicket taking was shared between Britney Thomas, Brodie Cary and Alvis Piksons and Tyson Lund. MDU was left to defend 4/143, which it was able to do with ease.
Koonwarra/LRSL started well with opening batsman Shane Paterson contributing 24 off 36 balls before a catch by Dylan Zuidema sent him back to the bench.
This was to be the Cougars’ top score, with a golden duck suffered by Glenn Matthies and Cary at the hands of Daniel Field.
Ashley Boxall and Teagan Hughes were also sent off for a duck after facing three and four ball respectively.
Field commanded the win with an impressive 5/18. Riley Prosser and Glen Cocksedge were also multiple wicket takers. Koonwarra/LRSL was sent home with a final score 10/70.
Town victorious over competitive Inverloch
LEONGATHA Town managed to topple Inverloch’s score on Saturday.
The opening partnership of Inverloch captain Warren Stewart and Greg Eddy ensured the Stingrays were off to an impressive start, making 60 and 50 respectively.
Lochlan May dismissed Eddy, but Inverloch was sitting nicely at 1/104. Max Carter was the star of the show for Town, taking 4/35.
Wayne Chapman later made 25 not out, allowing Inverloch to reach a highly competitive 5/170.
Nigel Hodges opened well with 28 runs, but it was May’s 79 runs that sealed the deal for Town. Cameron Butler put an end to May’s run, but the damage had been done.
Butler took 2/37 and Jay Mottram Carter took 2/36.
Town claimed victory with a score of 6/179.
