GREG Miller ensured a convincing win for Kilcunda-Bass over Leongatha Town with 157 runs on Saturday.
Playing at Scorpion Park, Kilcunda-Bass began their domination over Town by winning the toss and choosing to bat.
Miller opened with Joel Huckett, who was dismissed LBW by Sakthy Vs for 25 runs.
Stephen Leman followed Huckett and made 13 runs before he was run out by Julian Aeschlimann.
Miller made his whopping 157-run haul during his partnership with Vijai Kumar Gopal and retired not out.
Gopal and Millie Gold closed the innings and made 43 and five runs respectively, both not out.
Kilcunda-Bass amassed a score of 2/262.
Town went into bat but struggled to make any inroads on the scoreboard.
Vs opened the batting and made 11 runs.
This turned out to be the top score, only matched by Aeschlimann, who batted third in the order.
Leman tore through the top of Town’s order, including the dismissal of Dean Wilson for a duck.
Leman claimed 4/17.
Shaun Tapscott and Gold claimed two wickets each.
Gold dismissed both Jack Cashin and Cameron Dowling for ducks.
Town conceded defeat with a score of 9/59.
Club holds nerve
IN THE top-of-the-table clash between Wonthaggi Club and OMK, Club was ultimately victorious.
Playing at Wonthaggi’s McMahon Reserve, the visitors won the toss.
OMK’s opening partnership of Robert Quaife and Russ White started well with 39 and 44 runs respectively.
Quaife was caught by Aidan Quilty off the bowling of Justin Licis at 1/59.
Brad Hayes faced 13 balls but was bowled for a duck by Alan Babu.
His dismissal saw the entry of Mathew Walker, who top-scored with 54 runs.
Sam Liddle was Club’s best bowler, claiming 3/46.
OMK was tasked with defending 5/150 at the end of its 35 overs.
Club managed to pip OMK with a four-run win.
Jed Caddy top scored for Club early with 40 runs.
Trae Dudas-Jacobs, Licis and Matrix Chisholm offered a steady run rate, which would be enough to claim the points, with 22, 28 and 21 runs respectively.
Russ White claimed the most wickets for OMK with 3/27.
Jordan Myors took two wickets, including the dismissal of Quilty for a golden duck.
Club claimed its win with a final score of 8/154.
Island crumbles to Nerrena
PHILLIP Island was unable to keep up with Nerrena at the Rhyll Cricket Ground.
Nerrena won the toss and had a slow start.
Batting third, vice-captain Gerard Murphy turned things around with the top score of 48 runs.
Christos Marinou contributed 22 runs and Wayne Cocksedge closed the innings with 24 not out.
Phillip Island bowler Tony Hornsby held his own, claiming 3/31.
Singles were taken by Jackson Allan and Daniel McClausland.




Nerrena set the target at 5/143.
Hornsby continued his fine form in Phillip Island’s innings when he made 40 runs.
However, Nerrena bowler Cameron Baudinette kept Phillip Island’s scores low as he swept through the middle of the batting order.
Baudinette claimed 4/18.
Murphy took 2/15 and single wickets fell to Brendan Salmon, Shem Murphy, Tyson Harris and Jack Donohue.
Phillip Island was bowled out 10/103.
Korumburra had the bye.
C Grade, Division 2
Francis leads the Sharks to victory
AN opening 118-run haul from Peter Francis saw Phillip Island cruise towards a win against Koonwarra L/RSL.
Francis was formidable and could not be removed by the Koonwarra L/RSL fielding side.
A fill-in opened the batting with Francis and made 44 runs before he was dismissed LBW by Jai Brocklebank.
Sebastian Di Falco contributed 19 runs but was bowled by Dihen Yuthmika, and Shane Carville ended the innings with Francis with eight not out.
Phillip Island played out its allotted overs, resulting in a score of 2/203.
A low-scoring start spelt trouble for the Cougars.
Rhett Collins stepped up to the crease midway through the innings and salvaged the score with 54 runs before he was caught by Michael Cleary off the bowling of Francis.
Shane Paterson and Brocklebank added 34 and 39 runs respectively.
Brocklebank was not out at stumps.
Cleary dominated Phillip Island’s bowling efforts, claiming 4/44.
The rest of the wickets were taken by Sonny McMillan, Francis, Katie Campbell and Di Falco.
At the end of the innings, Koonwarra L/RSL surrendered the win to Phillip Island with a score of 8/189.
MDU prevails in tight clash
MDU nabbed a win from Glen Alvie at the Meeniyan Recreation Reserve on Saturday.
The visitors won the toss and chose to bat.
David Hynes opened well with 37 runs, but MDU bowlers Keiran Brown and Stephen Riley worked their way through the top of Glen Alvie’s batting order.
Captain Ian Thorn stepped up fifth in the order and hit 64 not out to ensure a defendable score for Glen Alvie.
Glen Cocksedge wiped out Glen Alvie’s last two batsmen quickly.
MDU’s top bowlers were Brown and Cocksedge, who took 2/16 and 2/47 respectively.
Glen Alvie played out its 35 overs, resulting in a score of 6/139.
MDU got off to a rocky start when opening batsman Gary Webster was sent off for a golden duck by William Simmons.
However, his dismissal saw the entry of captain Dale Thomas, who hit the top score of 47 runs.
Colin Graeme and Cocksedge added 20 and 31 runs respectively.
Cocksedge was not out at the end of the innings.
Owen Luff was Glen Alvie’s star bowler, taking 3/9.
Singles were claimed by Simmons, Jarvis Hynes, Kent Andersen and Wayne Bridle.
MDU still got over the line with a score of 7/140 in the 33rd over.
The match between OMK and Nyora was abandoned when OMK forfeited.
