• A Grade, Division 2
NYORA hosted Phillip Island at Nyora Recreation Reserve and they won the toss and sent the visitors in to bat first.
Overall, Nyora put together an excellent first innings with plenty of contributions, first from Henry Dolphin (45 from 51) their skipper and capitalised by an unbeaten half century from Jake Hackett (77* from 99) at number four.
This saw them finish 186 all out, after their tail failed to wag, Island skipper Clint Wilson (3/20 from 6) was the best with the ball.
In reply, after stumbling out of the blocks at 2/1, the Islanders were able to recover thanks to an 80-run partnership between David Womersley (14 from 10) and Kurt Lane (71 from 29).
Lane’s aggressive half century included eight fours and four sixes and proved the difference in driving the Sharks to the chase, that was nicely finished off with plenty of overs to spare by Geoff Odgers (28* from 30) and Tom Niven (4*).
Spencer Wilton (2/42 from 8) was the only one to take multiple wickets for Nyora, they lost by three-wickets and will look to get back on track next week against KilcundaBass.
Phillip Island will host Glen Alvie.
Demons cull Sharks
MDU played hosts to Kilcunda Bass at Meeniyan Recreation Reserve and the former won the toss and chose to bat first.
In an interesting innings, the Demons XI all seemed to get themselves going but just could not post a big score.
Wicketkeeper Troy Sinclair (38* from 46) finished as the top scorer and his partnership with Sam Bright (26 from 45) the largest for the innings at 63, as the Dees’ finished 8/197.
Ryley Duff (2/34 from 8) was the pick of the bowlers for the visitors.
In reply, the Sharks made a great fist of it, but ultimately fell short as they collapsed to fall 21-runs shy of the MDU total.
Cameron Davidson (55) and Shannon Rozario (29) got them off to a good start and Cameron Chasemore (36) chipped in along the way but neither of the three could stop the Demons attack from ripping through.
Sam Bright (3/28 from 8) did most of the damage as the Sharks lost 8/50 after passing the 120 mark.

Killy Bass will hope to get back on track this weekend against Nyora, while MDU will face Foster.
Cobras feast on the Alvie
GLEN Alvie welcomed Korumburra down the road to Wonthaggi Recreation Reserve and the visitors won the toss and sent the hosts in to bat first.
It proved to be a brilliant decision, as the Alvie struggled from the outset, losing regular wickets throughout their innings to finish all out for just 67 in a dominant display from the Cobras bowlers.
Four different Cobras took two wickets, including Inshaka Siriwardena (2/7 from 6.1) who was extremely economical in doing so.
Alvie captain Lachlan Harris (14) top scored in a tough innings.
In reply, the Cobras had next to no issues chasing the miserly total, losing just two wickets on the way to win by eight wickets.
Jacob Whiteside (27* from 25) top scored and finished off the win with Tom Crocker (11*), Nathan Findlay (2/22 from 5) was the best with the ball for the hosts.
Glen Alvie will look to get back on track this weekend when they head over the bridge to face Phillip Island, while ‘Burra will host Wonthaggi.
Superb start for Club
FOSTER travelled to McMahon Reserve to face off with their hosts Wonthaggi and the Tigers won the toss and chose to bat first.
With steady contributions from almost the entire batting order, the visitors were able to post 8/185 on the back of Welles Jenkins (42 from 49) and Billy Davy’s (34* from 34) top scores.
Heath Dobbie (2/28 from 8) was the pick of the bowlers for Wonny’.
In reply, needing 186 for victory, Club got off to a superb start with opener Emmet Dempsey (59 from 60) reaching a half century.
The Tigers were able to fight back and claim seven Wonthaggi wickets, but they could not stop the runs from flowing as Club finished off the three-wicket win with three overs remaining.
Harvey Griggs (3/36 from 8) was the best of the Foster attack, they’ll host MDU this weekend, while Wonny’ will head up to Korumburra.
