THE Leongatha and District Cricket Association U18 team travelled to Hallora on Wednesday evening for the Cameron White Cup T20 final.
Batting first after winning the toss on a great-looking pitch, the early loss of Harry West after a brilliant catch at short cover by Harry Allsop brought Clayton Quaife to the crease.
He formed a good partnership of 46 with Riley Harris, who was looking in great touch.
The loss of Quaife and Harris saw co-captains Aydan Williams and Tadgh Gannon show their class, striking the ball to all parts of the oval, really upping the run rate and finishing off the innings very strongly to get the Leongatha and District Cricket Association (LDCA) to a competitive score.
Confident they could defend the total with a very strong bowling lineup at their disposal, the LDCA boys bowled and fielded brilliantly and with great discipline – only two wides in 20 overs – to not only restrict Warragul but bowl them out in the 20th over and win back-to-back Cameron White Cups.
Congratulations to team manager Brian Gannon and the lads on a great performance.
The attention now turns to the 50-over format on Sunday when a win against Bairnsdale should secure a place in the final.
Thanks to all the families for their support at the game.
Thanks to the GCL, the umpires, Hallora Cricket Club for hosting the game, and Evans Petroleum for its continued support of the U18 team.
LDCA 4/126 defeated Warragul 104 all out.
