WE TRAVELLED to Bundalaguah for Round 1 of the U15 Evans Petroleum GCL season, Sale Maffra won the toss and elected to bat on what looked a very good pitch.
S/M got off to an absolute flyer with Moncrieff and Fernando batting with great intent pushing the score to 0/86 after 13 overs. LDCA skipper Cooper Newman then entered the attack and turned the game on its head, dismissing Moncrieff for a brilliant 56, with Ty Debono bowling tightly at the other end Newman claimed a further three wickets to have S/M reeling at 5/106. Archie Luke and Archie
Donohue bowled good spells through the middle overs, Tyler Dole and Max Johnston claimed wickets and Cooper Newman came back on to finish the innings off and complete a brilliant display of leg spin bowling. Jonah Foster did a good job wicketkeeping with three catches.
Cooper Newman 6/15, Max Johnston 2/4, Ty Debono, Tyler Dole 1 wicket each.
Chasing the handy total of 155 the LDCA got off to a very solid start. Eamon Berryman and Ty Debono looked in good touch before Berryman was dismissed at 1/37. Debono was building his innings nicely and with the loss of Tex Dyson and Lou Read he upped the tempo. Cooper Newman also showed great intent.
The boys put on 70 runs to get within a few runs of the total. The loss of Newman and the win secured saw Debono really get after the bowling smashing a six to bring up his century, a brilliant mature innings from a very good young player. Jobe Williams and Max Johnston struck the ball really well towards the end of the innings to see LDCA to a really good total.
Ty Debono 100, Jobe Williams 43, Cooper Newman 27, Lou Read 17, Eamon Berryman 16, Max Johnston 15no.
A really good win by the boys and a great start to the competition, one I’m sure Coach Dave Newman will be keen for the boys to build on. Next game is December 8 v Warragul at the Korumburra Turf.
Thanks to all the parents for their support and Bundalaguah CC for hosting a great day of cricket.

THE U13 team coached by Nick Eddy also travelled to Bundalaguah to take on Sale Maffra.
S/M batted first and posted a very good total. James MacDonald bowled a very good early spell without luck, Toby Nicholas claimed the first wicket bowling with good pace and Dihen Yuthmika bowled well to claim a wicket as did Axl Moore. The boys kept up their enthusiasm throughout the innings and never gave up.
Our turn to bat saw the loss of two early wickets, Toby Nicholas (32) was batting very patiently and when joined by Heath Crump they formed a nice little partnership of 30. Nicholas dismissed when he was starting to up the tempo playing some very nice shots. Captain Reggie Read (25) then played a good innings to get the boys over the 100 mark. The boys will have gained a lot from the experience. Coach Eddy has plenty of young talent to work with and they will grow as the series unfolds. Next game is December 8 v Warragul at the Outtrim Rec Reserve.
Thanks to all the parents for their support and Bundalaguah CC for hosting.
Big thanks to Manders Plumbing & Gas Fitting and MJA Accounting for their continued support of the U13 team.
