DALYSTON found itself on the winners’ list in front of an Anzac round crowd at Korumburra on Saturday.
The Magpies went into the game expecting Korumburra-Bena to be a dominant force with names like Heath Shaw in the lineup but delivered a consistent four quarters to claim a 39-point win.
The game was played in front of a massive crowd with the grandstand chock-a-block to commemorate the Anzac Round.
Dalyston was quick out of the gate and, under the captaincy of Hayden Wallis, put four early goals on the board.
Wallis played a hard edge and hit all his targets, demonstrating why he is an ideal captain for the Magpies.
Dalyston continued its form into the second quarter.
Korumburra-Bena kicked truly to add two goals to its tally, but the Magpies’ solid backline ensured the damage was limited.
Dino Karamoshos played a brilliant game on half back flank and on the wing, showcasing his skills and delivering hard tackles.
Ben Lewis and Tyson Andrighetto were also strong in the backline.

The back line showed some excellent defence but also attacked the ball well to send it back to the forward line.
After the halftime break, showers started, making it difficult to properly handle the ball.
Dalyston pushed through, with onballer Kyle Hutchinson oozing class and controlling the play and Kurt Thomas continuing to dominate in the ruck.
It was a tussle in the last quarter, but Dalyston went home proudly with the points, hopeful this win puts its season back on the right track.
Mitch Hallahan was awarded the Anzac Medal.
Korumburra-Bena’s best players were Josh Hopkins, Kye Benson, Aidan Simmons, Kodie Walker, Rhys Dixon and Hugh Gordon.
Dalyston will play Cora Lynn next week, which is coming off a win against rivals Inverloch-Kongwak.
Dalyston feels Cora Lynn will be a handful, but could be gettable, especially with the momentum of this week’s win.
Korumburra-Bena will have the bye.
