A grade, Division 2

NYORA won the toss and elected to bat in their match against Meeniyan Dumbalk United, posting a challenging total of 4/232 from 40 overs.

The innings was anchored by a stellar knock from Henry Dolphin, who top-scored with 72 runs off 85 balls. Dolphin’s innings included five boundaries, and he formed a crucial partnership with Aaron Kaddatz, who remained unbeaten on 72 from 56 balls, striking eight boundaries.

Jy Hull (34) and Scott Peatling (19) also contributed solid starts. Nyora’s disciplined batting performance was supported by timely contributions down the order, pushing their total to a competitive 232.

MDU’s bowling attack was led by Mark Cantwell, who landed one wicket off 37 in eight overs, while Tharindu Nuwan (1/35) and Sembakuttige Chathura Lakshan (1/49) also made notable contributions. Despite their efforts, Nyora’s total proved too challenging.

In reply, MDU struggled to keep up with the required run rate. Paul Le Page fought valiantly with a top score of 66 from 72 balls, hitting nine fours and two sixes. However, the loss of wickets at regular intervals, including key dismissals like Mitch McGrath (30), Tharindu Nuwan (9), and Mark Cantwell (17), put them on the back foot. Scott Browne’s 22 not out  later down the order wasn’t enough.

Ultimately, MDU were bowled out for 209 in 37.3 overs, falling short of Nyora’s total by 23 runs. Nyora’s bowling attack was well-rounded, with Jake Henry (2/61), Aidan Simmons (2/26), and Mitch Rowe (2/29) leading the charge.

Inverloch chase down Killy-Bass

KILCUNDA-Bass won the toss and elected to bat first in their match against Inverloch, but their innings never gained momentum, finishing with a modest total of 10/84 from 39.5 overs.

Brad Wright (18) and Cameron Davidson (17) provided the initial resistance, but wickets fell consistently throughout the innings. The middle order collapsed, with Robert Wallace (5) and Shaun Lucas (1) contributing little.

Daniel Ferguson (2) and Ben Rookes (8) also fell cheaply, and despite a late push from Harrison Berry (15), Kilcunda-Bass were bowled out for just 84 runs.

Inverloch’s bowlers were in superb form, led by Lewis Rankin, who claimed three wickets for 17 runs. Jesse Dugard (3/12) also caused problems for the batting side, while Cooper Newman (3/5) bowled an exceptional spell, ensuring Kilcunda-Bass never got going. Callum Asbury (0/20) and Rhys Newman (0/10) kept things tight, giving Kilcunda-Bass no room to recover.

Inverloch’s response was solid, as they reached 2/89 in just 21 overs. Riley Harris anchored the chase with an unbeaten 20 from 68 balls, while Dylan Clark played an explosive cameo, blasting 25 from 18 balls.

Callum Asbury (6) and Jack Butcher (21) contributed useful runs. Kilcunda-Bass’s bowlers, including Harrison Berry (1/8) and Ryan Brown (0/24), could not defend the small total. Inverloch chased down the target with relative ease, winning by eight wickets.

Foster sets challenging total

FOSTER won the toss and opted to bat first, amassing an impressive total of 5/227 from their 40 overs. Mitchell Jones top-scored with a steady 62 from 103 balls, while Josh Toner’s quickfire 27 from 25 balls set a solid foundation.

Ollie Rook played a standout innings, blasting 92 off 78 balls, including nine fours and four sixes, to put Foster in a dominant position. Not out batsmen Michael Cooke (28) and Mitchell Allott (5) ensured a strong finish, with Foster reaching 5/227 at the end of their innings.

Matthew Dakin (3/52) and Zack Scholz (1/27) were the best bowlers for Glen Alvie. Despite a few early breakthroughs, Foster’s middle order was resilient, with Rook’s blistering knock the highlight.

Glen Alvie’s chase got off to a solid start, with Matthew Dakin (73) and Matthew Donohue (47) anchoring the innings. Dakin’s 10 fours and two sixes provided the impetus, and Donohue’s steady 47 from 66 balls kept Glen Alvie in the hunt.

However, the middle order faltered under pressure, with wickets falling regularly. Ben McRae (19) and Archie Donohue (21) contributed, but the required run rate climbed, and Glen Alvie fell short, finishing at 7/210 after 40 overs.

Foster’s bowlers, including Josh Toner (2/15) and Ollie Rook (2/35), kept the pressure on, limiting Glen Alvie to just 210 runs and sealing a 17-run victory.
