A Grade, Division 2

MDU enjoyed a convincing win over Glen Alvie, which saw it take the early lead on the ladder on Saturday.

Glen Alvie made the trip out to the Meeniyan Recreation Reserve, where the home team won the toss and chose to bat.

Opening batsman Paul Le Page set the tone of the match with 63 runs.

Vice-captain Mitch McGrath made 23 runs before he was dismissed by Glen Alvie captain Ben McRae.

Sembakuttige Chathura Laksan was sent in and contributed a further 51 runs.

McRae gave Glen Alvie’s best bowling performance, taking 3/56, with Zack Scholz claiming 2/34.

MDU reached 7/220 after 40 overs.

Glen Alvie could not match MDU’s pace.

McRae continued to lead his team by top scoring with 19 runs.

Matthew Dakin and Scholz contributed 14 and 15 runs respectively.

Andrew Richardson was MDU’s top bowler, taking 3/11.

Single wickets were shared between seven bowlers.

Glen Alvie was bowled out with 10/88.

61 not out for Hull as Nyora claims win

KILCUNDA-BASS put up a fight, but it was no match for the might of Nyora.

Nyora made its way to the Bass Recreation Reserve and started its winning way with a successful toss, sending Kilcunda-Bass in to bat first.

The opening partnership of Aaron Conron and Cameron Davidson made a solid start with 31 and 33 runs respectively.

However, the wickets began to fall at a quick rate until Todd Smith made 24 runs late in the innings.

Smith was not out, but Kilcunda-Bass finished its innings with 10/149 in the 37th over.

For Nyora, Mitch Rowe claimed the most wickets with 3/19.

Aaron Kaddatz and Aaron Thompson were also multiple wicket takers.

Nyora’s opening batsman Bailey Henderson started well with 42 runs. 

However, it was Jy Hull who won the match with 61 not out.

Kilcunda-Bass bowler Chris Peckett took 2/31, and single wickets were taken by Smith and Davidson.

Nyora won with a score of 4/151.

Thrilling contest  as Inverloch  nudges Foster

INVERLOCH successfully defended its score and recorded a win against Foster.

Playing at the Inverloch Recreation Reserve, the Stingrays started the day winning the toss.

Inverloch’s Riley Harris and Brett Debono opened well with 21 and 25 runs respectively.

Ty Debono and Jesse Dugard followed on with 22 and 24 runs later in the innings.

Ty was not out when Inverloch’s allotted overs had been played and the Stingrays challenged Foster with a score of 7/147.

Foster captain Josh Toner was his team’s top bowler, claiming 3/23.

Wickets also fell to Ollie Rook, Jake Pilkington and Eddie Smith.

Toner was then bowled for a duck by Inverloch’s Jesse Dugard after facing four balls.

Vice-captain Jake Best was in next and made up some ground with 59 runs.

Tex Tyson later added 21 runs.

Dugard played an impressive game and took four Foster wickets.

Lewis Rankin, Cooper Newman and Ty Debono took two wickets each.

Foster came close but surrendered the win to Inverloch when it was bowled out 10/144.
