MDU will be looking to defend 9/195 against Leongatha Town this Saturday.

Playing at the Meeniyan Recreation Reserve over the weekend, MDU won the toss and went into bat first.

A catch from Town’s Luke Bowman was quick to dismiss Gary Webster.

However, the partnership of Tyrone Zukovskis and Mike Olden made an impact on the scoreboard, making 56 and 25 runs respectively.

A further 35 runs was later added by captain Craig Hoober.

Multiple wickets were claimed by Levi Hickey and Lachlan Gill.

Currently sitting just above MDU on the ladder at fifth, Town will be given the opportunity to flex its muscles this weekend.

Phillip Island battle Koonwarra L/RSL 

AFTER a slow start, Phillip Island rallied to produce a score of 10/195 in its two-day B1 match against Koonwarra L/RSL.

Newhaven Recreation Reserve hosted the match, and Phillip Island won the toss, choosing to bat first.

Early bowling pressure from Louis Read made it difficult for Phillip Island to get runs on the board.

Paris Buckley also challenged the Sharks, taking 4/43.

Oliver Duggan ensured Phillip Island was still a force to be reckoned with, hitting 57 runs before he was bowled lbw by Matthew Boswell.

Andrew Finlayson and captain Kurt Lane contributed 24 and 21 runs respectively.

Koonwarra L/RSL took the opportunity to open its account and played five overs.
Michael Thomas and a private player made three and four respectively, facing bowlers Lane and Timothy McNiven, and were not out at the end of play.
The game will resume this Saturday.

McGrath challenges Korumburra

THE Imperials will be aiming to step up to the challenge of 10/180 established by Korumburra this Saturday.

The Imps won the toss but sent the home team into bat first.

Korumburra opening batsman Trevor Allen managed to hit 65 runs before he was sidelined by a catch from Gary Sauvarin.

Darren Scott later contributed 28 runs and was not out at the end of the innings.

Imps bowler Klayton McGrath had Korumburra on the ropes, taking 5/27, knocking out the tail end of Korumburra’s batting order.

Jack Ballagh was also a multiple wicket taker. 

The Imps opened its innings and played six overs.

Andrew Meyer made five runs and was not out.

Archie Casey was bowled lbw for a duck Mathew Olden.

Sitting on 1/5, the Imps will continue its innings on the weekend. 

OMK deliver big ask for Inverloch

LADDER leader OMK made a statement to Inverloch as it finished off its inning with a total of 9/246 on Saturday.

Playing at the Outtrim Recreation Reserve, the home side was the first to bat.

Joel Cuman top scored with 47 runs.

Nick Wylie and Robert Quaife contributed 35 and 30 runs respectively.

Inverloch’s bowling figures were unavailable before going to print.

Inverloch will contest OMK’s score this Saturday.
