IT will be the battle of the Sharks, with Phillip Island and Kilcunda-Bass going head-to-head in this season’s C Grade premiership.
Kilcunda-Bass won its clash against Nyora with a massive 122 run effort by Gregory Miller.
Playing at the Nyora Recreation Reserve, Kilcunda-Bass won the toss and sent Nyora into bat first.
The opening partnership of Colin and Jordan Knox performed well, making 20 and 80 runs respectively.
Captain Ben Pugh later added 29 runs, and Daniel Blackney and Keith Maclure rounded out the innings with 36 and 35 runs.
Maclure was not out at the end of the innings.
Shaun Tapscot was Kilcunda-Bass’ top bowler, taking 2/45.
All other wickets were shared between four bowlers.
Nyora finished off its innings with a score of 6/253.
Miller opened Kilcunda-Bass’ innings with Kevin McLean, who made 47 runs before he was dismissed LBW by Maclure.
Scott Williams added another 33 runs before his wicket fell to William Dixon.
Kilcunda-Bass claimed the win.
Phillip Island is grand final ready


PHILLIP Island kept Leongatha Town under control and secured its place in the grand final.
Phillip Island won the toss and chose to bat.
The Sharks’ opening batsman Gavin Excell made 11 runs and was bowled by Cameron Dowling at 1/15.
This allowed Steve Niven to step up to the crease, who top scored with 78 runs before his wicket fell to Paul Carter at 5/150.
Peter Francis and Chris Fall made 25 and 21 runs respectively.
Fall was not out at the end of the innings.
Bowling honours were shared between Yuthil Ratnaike and Dowling, who claimed 3/34 and 3/45 respectively.
Phillip Island was bowled out at 10/227.
Town had a strong start to the innings with opening batsmen Nigel Hodges and Tim Cashin making 49 and 52 runs.
Coming in at number four, Max Carter added 24 runs.
However, Phillip Island upped its pressure and quickly worked its way through the rest of the order.
Fall was the standout bowler, taking 3/29.
Multiple wickets also fell to Deane Mani and John Johnston.
Town reached a total of 10/192, seeing Phillip Island into the grand final.
